A massive thank you to Radia, Yon and Yogi for an amazing experience hiking Caldera Batur. Our guide Radia had excellent English and his knowledge of the history of the volcanoes and its surrounds was superb. My wife and I are inexperienced hikers and found the trek more than within our fitness level (apart from the early wakeup). The view we had with this hike was second to none. We saw the sun rise over the ocean and marvelled as Mount Batur changed colour with the sun rise. Thanks again guys and look forward to another hike next time!

Did the sunrise Mount Batur hike last week and everything was above and beyond my expectations. Yon was our guide up the mountain after we were transported to his house from our hotel in Ubud. Very knowledgable and friendly, Yon took us up the mountain at a nice leisurely pace and we got to the summit just as the sun came over the horizon. The view is absolutely worth the trek as we were lucky to have a clear morning. The trek/tour was definitely one of the highlights of my trip to Bali and I would recommend it to anyone in fair enough shape to hike up a mountain. Having Yon as our guide just enhanced it even more so (if you're lucky, he may even hook you up with some of his very own home grown coffee beans!)

Husband, sons (14&9) and myself did the more serene walking option last week. Absolutely fantastic and highly recommend. The highlight of our trip in fact. Our guide was Yogi and was very knowledgable. You do however need a good fitness level as there were many steps along the way down and up again. We started early and ended at lunch which was better with the heat. My only advice would be to research an alternative lunch option to be taken too as there are so many fantastic places to eat. Don't forget the camera as you will be blown away by the views.

We had a fantastic experience with our guide Yon. I have experience with trekking in the Alps with guides, so i know what to look for in a good one. Yon was no exception to this. We were picked up from Seminyak at 0200 by a sensible and safe driver, provided with bottles of water, then driven to Yon's home at the base of Batur. We arrived about 0350 and were welcomed by his wife with freshly brewed coffee and a light breakfast. We had a brief and were issued with head torches. yon gave us a waterproof jacket each (as a just in case) as we had not planned on doing any trekking and didnt have our walking kit with us. We wore shorts, tshirt and a warm jumper, with sports trainers - this was completely adequate is case people are worried about not having the right kit. a pair of trousers might be an idea for the summit. The walk up batur is moderate. if you can run/jog a reasoable distance then you will find this no problems. we walked at quite a quick pace but Yon was happy to go slower if required, however we both liked the challenge of walking a bit faster. The walk is slip into roughtly 3 parts - 1) forrest section - gentle incline well worn track, easy. 2) as you leave the woods the ground becomes quite rocky and scree like - some slipping, moderate difficult, hands and knees maybe once or twice, well worn track. 3) the final part is rock with less erosion, easier walking, well worn track, some cheeky little steep bits but otherwise ok. Took us 1hr 40mins to summit. Sunrise was amazing and we were taken to see the eggs cooking in the volcanic steam, then had coffee and breakfast. Yon gave us some history to the erruptions and showed us old lava flows etc. He is also a SAR (search and rescue) team member for the region so also has some interesting stories. Descent was via a slightly different route which was easier for descent compared to the route ascending, which then rejoined the original route in the forrest and back to his home. We had to head back at this point as we needed to check out of our hotel as it was our last day, otherwise i believe the tour continues with a trip to the hot springs. Arrived back at the hotel at 1130. Great trip, great guide, planned and safe. recommend for most people, but not young children.

This tour was unbelievable, although very heavy. Our guide, Putu, was very experienced and managed to keep everything safe and secure. Its nice to have arranged the tour using this operator, as they have a good preparation for the journey. Besides the essentials, like lights and hiking stick, they also tool extra clothing. This was truly essential as on the top it is very cold. Hereby i would like to thank our guide Putu for the amazing experience and some nice information about bali and the hindu religion.
