“Bakas Elephant Ride”
Reviewed December 16, 2012

We had a great time today- my first elephant ride. I have never laughed so much and the elephant keeper shared with us the history of the animals (from Sumatra) and educated us about their routines and past. Sure, they were not running free, like any zoo they have enclosures for the monkeys parrots ets- these were 3x5 mtrs. I listened and asked questions; it takes a lot of feed- 250kg for ea elephant daily.. fruit on Bali is sometimes scarce, so is bought from Java. Yes, we paid for tomatoes to fed to Elsa after the ride.. she loved it & so did we! Bali is a poor Island, the more tourists to Bakas, the better able to look after the animals here. We tipped the trainer too, he was full of info and answered all questions. The photos taken by the park can be purchased for 100,000 rp ($10 aud) each.. we took one each only as we had taken photos & movies ourselves. Lunch was buffet style, tasty rice, chicken crumbed pork, and we fed the watermelon to the monkeys. This is not a zoo, it is elephant ride and the same start place for white water rafting, As an interaction with the elephants, I loved it! Bagus!!

my husband and i went to bali for our honeymoon, bali is beautiful but this "safari park" lets it down.as soon as we arrived and seen the price we thought it was very expensive so oppted to just pay the entry fee, once we got into the park we instantly thought the elephants were not in a good way and i was glad we didnt pay to ride them.on a closer look the elephants even looked sad,as an animal lover this made me feel awful and i instanly knew that they were not being treated right, its fair to say all of the animals they keep here are ill treated.it was very upsetting.one particular monkey was very sad (alone in a very small cage) it had a bandage on its hand and its fur was matted.the list of animals i felt bad for goes on, all i can say is do not go to this safari park you will only be dissapointed and upset,we were!!

“Ride the ATV's at own risk.”
Reviewed April 30, 2012

The Bakas Levi Rafting and Bakas Elephant Tour’s are well worth a miss The Company is situated in Kawan Sub Villages Bakas Village which is about a 1 1/2 hour drive from Kuta.
Bakas Activities are set on the Melangit River that is still lush and green and has some wonderful photo spots along the way.

The park itself is small with caged animal in very small cages as well as elephant rides, carried out by rude and insulting staff, who were only after extra money/tips. The ATVs are old and very, very unsafe however the guide was excellent. We had 3 ATV break down during our ½ tour, the first lost power, the second would not start after going through water and the third lost the front suspension and the wheel fell off check out the photos’.

The food offered was very basic 2 x curries, rice and fruit plate and was served warm. The facilities are very, very basic, toilets were dirty and we could not wait to leave.

“Horrible horrible place.”
Reviewed February 9, 2012

Animals is tiny cages and elephants not treated well at all. They had an owl out in daylight chained to a tree! They also had otters in a cage with no water! It broke my heart to see those animals. Not to mention they charge us$120 per person per ride and the elephant guide showed us one of the two mercedes benzs that the owner of the place owned. Please don't go there. The poor animals are suffering and the owner doesn't deserve to get rich off that.
