This was the second hotel we changed to on the current trip from Silver Rock to this, Not because Silver ROack was bad but just to for a new experience.....
Since i was with my spouse i felt Silver Rock was better........
any ways This hotel is good,
Nice staff & room service, Food served is great and value for money but only veg...
room tariff is also at par.... parking available also they have arrangements for drivers...
One thing need to be careful is plz check the room properly as half the rooms available are horror as it is an heritage hotel... if you are traveling with a family of 3-4 then it ok....but if just a couple then would not be able to enjoy it infact will be scary in the night....
the view for the sitting area ....ie small garden type is awsome.....
also this hotel is not recomendable if you have old person with you coz its located on mall road still you have to go down steep road from the entrance to the hotel.........

Stayed in Padmini Nivas during monsoon (sep-10)... was lucky to get cottage no 11. It was secluded from rest of rooms and had virtually small private garden. Great weather made this stay even more memorable. The hotel is right next to library end of mall yet peaceful. Staff were very courteous. Food was average and I would like to add that I found their much famed Gujarati Thali a big disappointment..may be it wasn't my day ..!! ... As the hotel is very old property...the room..bathroom and bed were creepy and damp...not very neat and tidy but our overall stay in mussoorie made up for it.
Would recommend to stay here if you are getting room no 11.

A home away from home, excellent vegeterian food, comfortable and cozy rooms, efficient service and a friendly manager. A must stay while in Mussoorie. Parking is no problem here, and the Mall is 2min away.

We were a group of 17 people and stayed at hotel padmini niwas for 3 days. We had booked 6 rooms. Rooms were very nice and food was really good, variety was not too much though. The only problem we faced was of availability of hot water in bathrooms. Hot water was available, but for 17 people to get ready, it was a problem. We had pointed out this problem to the hotel manager, and they assured of better service next time.

This Hotel is really fun to stay at. The Padmini Nivas is one of the oldest buildings in Mussoori, it was origionally named the Rushbrook Estate and was owned by the Maharaja of Rajpipla.
The Hotel is located on a ridge with magnificant views of the Himalaya to its north and the Doon valley to its south.. Its charms include grand rooms containing carved fireplaces, strange hunting trophies and other timely reminders of the Raj . It has wonderful landscaped gardens .
The Hotel offers a wonderful veg resaurant which specialises(amongst other things) in Gujarti cuisine .There are some recreaional facilities on offer including a pool table and table tennis.
The hotel is a stones throw from the Mall and the ropeway and is definitly worth a stay should you find your self in Mussoori.

My wife and I planned to drive out from New Delhi to Mussoorie for the week end, 10 to 12 Sep 2010. Being elderly couple we looked around for a good, clean, reasonably priced hotel with car parking, not too far from the Mall Road, preferably with a good view, to stay in. We chose Hotel Padmani Nivas, a heritage property, more than 170 years old, located at one end of the Mall. We enjoyed two wonderful days there.
We checked into a Deluxe Room, in the main building of the Hotel. It was spacious and well maintained with a good attached bathroom with hot water. This year the monsoon rains have been quite severe here; even so there were no leaks and the property looked to be well maintained, despite its age. Car parking was available at the Hotel entrance. The Hotel appeared to be nearly full even in off season, with many satisfied and happy guests. The Managers and Staff were very hospitable and went ‘that extra mile’ to make every guest comfortable. The Hotel seems to have adequate number of motivated staff. The food served was mainly vegetarian with egg on request. Telling from the taste, they do have very good chefs/ cooks.
Like many other visitors to Padmani Nivas, we came away very satisfied and happy. We look forward to going back and staying there again.
