“Small and Beautiful Hotel - Great Extras”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2010

We ended up here last minute on a recommendation from a friend. They gave me a great price as we were walking in without a reservation. The hotel is in a beautiful old palace/fortress and has great ambiance throughout the hallways and rooms. Every room is a little different and individually decorated as I was shown a few rooms that were available to choose from. We took the lowest priced room but it was huge and had plenty of room for us plus our 3 kids. The staff was friendly and quick to help with all our needs, even setting up the mattresses for the kids on the floor while we were out eating dinner. The hotel has a great overlook of the valley and down to the Mall Road including a terrace for outdoor eating. There is a lawn and a small kids play area that was great for the kids to run and play after breakfast before we checked out.

The only thing I rated low was sleep quality simply because our room was on the ground floor beside the gravel parking area. Several times a car would come in to the hotel at night or in the morning and slam on brakes making a lot of noise with the rocks sliding. The windows weren't thick enough to stop the sound. But we were so tired from all the walking and playing that it didn't bother us at all.

We'll definitely be back at the Kasmanda Palace when we are back in town!

The property was selected to have the family a great summer vacation in the picturisque mussorrie. The property has a very good location and is situated on a hill-top. it is located on the mall and the hotel provides pick and drop free of cost from the Mall. The rooms are well done and the food choice offered in buffeet is also good.

right in the middle of the Mall road... yet away from the noise and crowd. excellent view and hotel!
the only draw back of this place is that everything in the hotel closes at 10 pm.. so after that u cant even get a cold drink! even the free car service to and back form the mall shuts at 10.

If it' Mussoorie for me next time? It surely would be Kasmanda Palace. The views are astounding perhaps the best in Mussoorie any hotel can offer. The food was outstanding, and very reasonable. It was the best holiday experience so far I have ever had in any hill station of India.

Food is good but ordering north indian starterse good rather than trying local meals

Staying in Kasmanda Palace made us living in a royal way. It gave us the experience of the Heritage India.

I liked this hotel. Some of the rooms are palatial whilst others are a little small. We had a small room but it was comfortable. One down side was that our bathroom had a window (high up) openning into the bathroom of the person next door. They smoked so everytime we went into the loo we had to breathe in stale smoke. Interestingly enough you could hear every sound from the next bathroom. The hotel put on bonfires in the evening and the food was good - especially from the menu. The town is fantastic and the views are astonishing. A chair lift to the top of gun hill is beautifully tacky. The municipal gardens are great but the forest above them is even better. Do not try to change money in the bank unless you have plenty of time or enjoy watching Indian bureaucracy. I did and enjoyed both. The Sai Baba Temple is worth a visit - to enjoy Darshan. You cannot drive to the hotel so it is important to get some "Sherpas" for luggage.

My overall experience was good. We had been there with friends and we had awesome time there. Food was good with ala carte in weekdays and buffet on weekends. Rooms have retained the royal touch and are well kept but my room had uninvited guests(rats). We had to shoo them in the middle of the night. I had left a feedback on this at the hotel desk. Hope they have got rid of them by now. Except for this instance rest of the things were fine.
