We stayed at this hotel for two days in November 2016. It's indeed a hidden jewel of Mussoorie as claimed by hotel's management.
The location of this hotel is excellent...right on Mall road. It is at a height with very steep climb, but that shouldn't be a concern because the pick up facility provided by the hotel is very professionally managed. The staff is very courteous and always helpful. The rooms are decorated in royal style and well maintained. You certainly get value for your money.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for staying with us and appreciating our property. We are indeed very happy to know that you enjoyed our property and hospitality. Thank you once again for your kind words. We still consider and treat the hotel as an extension of our home. Its not easy maintaining and running a property like this which is over 180 years old, but reviews such as yours encourage us to keep going on.

Your compliments have been conveyed to the entire hotel team.

We are happy to inform you that we would be adding an indoor activity room for guest to enjoy in the next few months. A gym and spa are also being planned.

We thank you for your patronage to Kasmanda Palace and look forward to welcoming you back soon! Please do spread the good word about our property as it is a hidden jewel of Mussoorie waiting to be explored by more like minded guests like your self!!

Warm Regards,

Dinkar Singh.

Its rare to find a hotel in a touristy location like this, which gives you lot of space. This heritage hotel called Kasmanda palace was constructed in 1838!!. Used as a residence by the British , then as a school and then as a hospital for invalid soldiers of Crimean war of 1856, it was purchased by the raja of kasmanda. Panthers, Tigers, bisons, rhino etc shot by the Rajas and nawab's decorate the walls. old heritage vehicles- hand rickshaw made in France etc give a glimpse of the india that was and the role of the British in building a part of it. This place has fantastic view of the valley, has great sit out area, Bon fire area, British style garden breakfast area.... small space for your children to play while badminton court for the adults. However the best thing about this place is that it doesn't come acrosss as a very busy buzzing tourist hotel. It's totally laid back, silent, beautiful place. The rooms are totally clean and spacious . The only negative is it's quality of food. Tried multiple time different things hoping that the last bad food was exception , but no, they have poor quality food with very high price tag. But then when you are in Mussorrii why you would want to have food in the hotel

We are disappointed to hear that you were not satisfied by the F&B at our property. Generally guests really like our F&B however we will definitely look into it and make sure that we don't disappoint you if you choose to visit us again in the future.

I was supposed to visit Welcome Heritage in Sep but due to illness I was not able to go. So I requested for date change which hotel accepted. However I was still unable to walk, so again I humbly requested for date change and I was asked by hotel to send an email with the medical documents. I did what they asked me to do so with a hope that they would entertain my request. But to my surprise my request was outrightly rejected by the Hotel. I was not expecting this kind of behaviour from such a reputed Hotel Chain.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for airing your concern and disappointment. We can understand your situation and feelings.

As you may be aware all hotels and service providers have a policy which they have to follow which is set down by the corporate office and has to be followed. Hotels have a cancelation policy which they have to follow. In your case we bent the cancelation policy and allowed you to change your room reservation and come stay with us at a later date with a time period set. This was a special case and was specially done for you and is not done normally by any hotel. However it cannot be changed again and again as we too are answerable to the corporate office who sets down rules and procedures which have to be followed and cannot be changed again and again.

In regard to the hotel asking for your medical documents, we are looking into that issue and tracing the emails to check.

I am sure you would understand and also if it was an airlines etc. they too would not have even given the option of changing the dates if it was not in their policy to do so. However we bend rules specially for you in the first instance.

We hope you are feeling better and wish a speedy recovery. Please do give us a chance and stay with us in future.

Best Regards

Dinkar Singh

This hotel gives you a quiet and comfortable feeling of luxury amidst the vintage furniture and decor. There's quite a lot of history to this property dating back to 1836.

We stayed in the Superior Room # 1 end November 2016 and it was cozy, clean and with all amenities like a tea/coffee maker with ample sachets, ac-heater system, LED TV and a modern looking clean washroom.

The complimentary breakfast was sumptuous and the restaurant menu offered a good variety reasonably priced.

The staff is courteous and helpful and the service is prompt.

This is a east facing property so the sunrise from here is worth watching.

We experienced a good Quaint little piece of Royalty high up in the hills....

Room tip: Rooms on the east side have a better view of the valley ahead.

The ambience of this hotel is what catches the eye first; with its sprawling lawns, intricately-crafted interiors and historical anecdotes gracing the wall, it does the term 'Heritage Hotel' complete justice. Tucked away at some height from the bustling Mall Road, it's an ideal place for one looking for some peace and solitude. The room provided all the basic amenities one would require and was fairly clean. The historical memorabilia littered throughout the hotel would be an added attraction for history buffs. Although the staff was extremely courteous and helpful, there were a couple of experiences that left us slightly underwhelmed - the reception desk informed us there was no Wi-Fi provided by the hotel, which is especially glaring when you realise data networks here can be a hassle; the hotel refused to warm our take-away food at night; and it took some convincing before they provided us an extra pillow and blanket. But besides these admittedly trivial complaints, our two-night stay here was quite peaceful and warm, and I wouldn't think twice before recommending this place to anyone.

Note: The food from the hotel restaurant is not worth the money. It can be easily skipped for any of the innumerable shops along Mall Road.

In regard to your suggestions and concerns, we feel there was some misunderstandings. As for the wifi, we do have wifi but it is operational only in the restaurant, lounge and the outdoor sit out areas. The reason why the entire property is not wifi is that being a heritage property our walls are very thick and so far it has not been possible however we are in talks with an IT company to try and make the entire property wifi as we do understand the importance of it. We as a hotel and like most hotels do not allow take away food to be brought from outside the hotel and hence the staff had refused to heat the food and I am sure you would understand it. If we were a bed and breakfast hotel or a guest house then may be it would be allowed but to maintain a property like this with heavy overhead costs we have to follow certain rules. In regard to the blanket and pillow issue we are looking into it.

We are happy to inform you that we would be adding an indoor activity room for guest to enjoy in the next few months. A gym and spa are also being planned.
