We found this hotel on this website and looking at all the excellent reviews and photos uploaded by the hotel management and the travellers themselves, decided to try it out. However, we were a bit skeptical as to how the property would actually turn out to be but all our doubts were put to rest on arrival at this awesome hotel managed by an even more awesome staff. We were very impressed on seeing the place.
OUR ROOM: Colonial Suite (General Frederick Young Suite). There is no view from this room and this suite has one bathroom. We were five people but it was not a problem to share the room. We were all very comfortable. We stayed for four nights and five days. The rooms do not have an AC but then, its not even required.
LOCATION: On the way to Mussoorie, we called up the hotel about our arrival and they promptly sent their people to receive us. The hotel is located very close to Gandhi Chowk (a five-minute walk up a steep incline, but dont worry the hotel provides shuttle service - wagonR - even if you are a big family they wont shy away from doing 2-3 trips to make you comfortable)
SERVICE: The thing that really stands out about this hotel is their service and the extent of co-operation they extend to their guests. It almost seems that they go out of the way, when a simple "we dont usually do this" is all you get in other places. Deficiency in the facilities (we didnt face any), if any, is more than made up for by the excellent staff. Near our room was a large window where they placed a table and a few chairs for us to enjoy the view.
FACILITIES: The hotel has a pool table and a carrom board along with few other board games. The hotel also has a library with a small but nice collection of books and also houses a small reading table. There is also a TV room with a choice of DVDs to watch.
FOOD: The food was super delicious and exceeded our expectations. The breakfast had a variety of options to choose from and each one of us enjoyed it. The breakfast was vegetarian but one can order eggs as per their like and taste. The lunch and dinner menu was also decent. We ordered 2 chicken biryanis and had to order two more since we liked it a lot.
CLEANLINESS: The rooms and the bathrooms were very clean and the staff was prompt to respond to any of our requests.
The overall experience was just amazing and we shall definitely go back to Ilbert Manor again. Even though there were a few hiccups, the staff was so cooperative and responsive and they made sure we enjoyed our stay to the maximum. The stay was excellent and i'm sure it was mainly because the staff was so friendly and helpful.
