“Our favorite pad in the mountains!!!!”
Reviewed August 11, 2012

We don't bother looking up any other place as we are hooked on to the Vermont. It's a really nice place and has a breathtaking panoramic view of the mountains. The best part for us is that this place is a little away from the Mall and thus seems very calm and serene. All in all we highly recommend it to people who like luxury of course at an affordable price!!! :)))). The breakfast menu is nothing to sing about..they could add some waffles...pancakes and widen their menu but out of the limited listings on the menu...the stuff is not bad!

The Amber - Vermount does exceed one's expectation in more than one way.
Great rooms, beautiful view, convenient location and polite and considerate staff are all attributes of this wonderful Estate. The room was very comfortable and with its intricate decor, it was a visual treat. The breakfast spread, though not too big, was good. The whole hotel including its restaurants were been intricately designed and well maintained. Great for a family or business stay.

I selected this hotel based on reviews on trip advisor. I was a bit apprehensive about what i would actually get, and at the same time had fairly high expectations after reading the reviews, I can say my experience exceeded the expectations!

Location & Feel: The moment I stepped into this , I could feel how calm and peaceful this place is. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous. The room that we stayed in has an excellent view of the valley. Baths have a very nice feeling but are missing bathtubs. The hotel is a stones throw away from the Company Bagh. The pick & drop facility is extremely helpful since the hotel is very far from the town center.

Food & Service: The a-la-carte was excellent and so was the buffet breakfast. The buffet dinner could have been better. Room service was very prompt. The staff even called us one late evening when we were in Haridwar and asked if we would like to order something in advance so that it can be kept in the room, in case the kitchen closes when we reach the hotel late in the night!

Facilities: Not much to do here, only if you compare it with modern facilities. However, they have badminton, table tennis (in a nice little tree house!), board games, pool table and of course the deck is an excellent place to just relax (you can actually spend hours here just doing nothing). Could not get much help from the hotel in arranging for site seeing tours. It would help if the hotel ties up with a cab company and provides these facilities.

All in all, I had a wonderful experience at the Amber Vermont and would like to return here again and again.

Room Tip: In the new buildings, take a room on the upper floor as the views are wonderful. All rooms face the...

We had decided on this hotel basis the reviews on tripdvisor. And the place lived up to the great ratings given by fellow travellers.

The room was a little cramped, especially with the three of us- I was travellimg with my 9 month old daughter and husband. There was very little space to move around within the room after the luggage was put in. the good part of thw room was the balcony which opened out to a view of the valley.

The service at the hotel was outstanding. We had frequent requests, given that we were with a baby and each and every request was well attended. The staff was kind enough to specially prepare food for the baby and did not charge us anything for it. All the staff I interacted with were friendly and extremely helpful.

The location is a bit of a disadvantage if you intend to visit the mall road often. It is ideal if you plan to stay at the hotel, enjoy the views and relax. Also, the hotel offers shuttle service to the mall for those who wish to do sightseeing.

The company bagh is a short walk away and makes for a nice outing during the day.

There is a restaurant in the hotel which serves a buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was always fresh amf staff were very prompt.

Overall good place for a short, relaxing sojourn in the mountains.

Went by the reviews at tripadvisor and booked this place. This place is decent but not as good as the reviews. I had booked a king bed but the room had twins joint together. The staff even said that this is how a king bed is! The service was good and they promised to shift us to another room the next day, but we dint really want to stay.

The room was nice but there was no view! The food is good but the buffet options are quite limited.

Not a lot to do at the resort, no open areas, very small restaurant, but its away from the hustle bustle of the mall road.

Overall, a very average stay and I cannot seem to believe its rated at the top!

Room Tip: Try to get a view... Most of the rooms dont have any!

We are very unpleased to hear that you did not have a good stay with us. At Amber hotels, it is our top priority to ensure that our guests have a great stay with us. Please accept my apologies for your unpleasant experience.

I would like to mention that our beds are indeed double beds with 2 single mattresses instead of one large double mattress. This may have made you feel that they are twin beds. The reason for putting two single mattresses instead of a large double mattress is that in the hills mattresses become damp very quickly and need to be kept in the sun every two months to dry. It is more convenient to carry single mattresses in and out of the hotel every two months than carrying double mattresses. I can understand that the joint in the middle of two single mattresses led to your discomfort and I apologize for this. Regarding the size of our beds, they are 76 inches in width and 80 inches in length which is the size of a standard king sized bed. The mattresses are premium spring mattresses and are 8 inches in thickness.

Out of 13 rooms in the property, 9 are facing north and have a view of the mountains, 1 has a view of the garden and only 3 rooms have a view of the hotel. A majority of our rooms have a lovely view and that is one of the main reasons why guests appreciate our property.

Although we are a small hotel, we consciously designed the hotel in such a manner that our guests would have a lot of activities to indulge in and open spaces to enjoy the natural beauty of the mountains. As mentioned by other reviewers, we have a badminton court, table tennis table, pool table, croquet set, cards room, and a host of board games available in the hotel. In terms of open spaces, we have a hanging deck overlooking the mountains and a garden where bon-fires and bar-be-ques can be organized.

Once again, I am sorry to hear that you did not have a good experience with us. I sincerely hope that you will give us a second chance to extend our hospitality and change your opinion about us. Thank you!

Its a great place to stay. Rooms are well furnished. Modern baths and toiletries. Food is great and the absence of a bar pinches a bit but requirements of guests is met from outside. Very courteous staff and great service. View from the room is great and relaxing. The best part is that it is away from the hustle and bustle of city yet not unapproachable. Would like to return again and again. Thanks to all the staff for making my weekend worthwhile.

Room Tip: Go for the first floor rooms which though are bit smaller but the balcony and the view compensate th...

Came across this place through a close friend who had recommended this property. Then checked it on trip advisor and found brilliant reviews. On the outset of arrival the place starts rejuvenating you. I strongly back all the reviews which are posted already. The place is amazing, nice views, good food, etc, etc. So, I'll straight of come to my suggestions..mind it, they are suggestions..
Room..specially bath amenities are not replenished daily, though you pay a daily tariff. In a clique property like their's, you expect bath gowns but they're missing. No one told us about the spa and other hotel facilities on check in..would have loved to have an experience of all that. Food .. The restaurant food is ok...but little boring with absolutely no variety on food except Indian cuisine. Rooms are small and cozy but there is no provision for night lights and you bang yourself into something in the dark or switch on the lamps which can disturb your partner too. Again for the rooms, they are nice but you might find a piece or two of cobwebs on the private balconies and some cigarette butts on the balcony floors used by the previous patrons.
Donot hire a car from the hotel office..they may not upgrade a sedan to an SUV for the same price but for sure will downgrade a Sean to a hunchback at the very same price.
Will I stay here again? Till no place else gives me this calmness - a big Yes...but if something opens with better facilities and the very same calmness and beauty then for sure NO...

The Amber Vermont Estate is a boutique retreat in the Himalayas.
