If you're looking for a quiet weekend getaway, this is the place for you.

It's a quaint, beautifully done up bungalow with wonderful caretakers and very comfortable rooms.
There is even a very friendly puppy called Rocky (well, he must be a dog by now).
There are two large terraces, tastefully decorated rooms (since it is a converted residence, no two rooms are alike) and unfortunately two common bathrooms.
But the fact that they are so spacious and naturally lit, sort of makes up for it.
There is a beautiful garden surrounding the property, full of blooming flowers, and a lovely grassy backyard to chill and watch the stars from.
The only downside perhaps is that there isn't much to do in the immediate surroundings of the place. You have to take a car to Landour, Mussorie or Dehradun to go shopping, touring or dining.

The caretaker and cook, who are husband and wife, and their whole family are very warm, cooperative people. The food is not exactly gourmet stuff, but it's very comforting home-cooked food.

Basically, we couldn't ask for more.

It is one of the few vacations we would remember for a long time and for all the right reasons. We read about it in a magazine and decided to go for a long weekend. With two young children, we look for comfort too. The first impression was WOW !! The place was done up very tastefully and was very clean too. The staff always had a smile on their faces. Hubby got a little annoyed initially as there was no TV in the room and he did not want to miss watching the sports channel.

The best thing about the Bird House. No TV in the room so as a family we did so many things together. Played, talked and sang and discovered each other all over again. I guess over a period of time, we do not realise when we become a slave to the idiot box. The children loved playing in the well maintained gardens. Very soon it was time for us to go back. On our last evening the chef explained his recipe of "long gatta paneer" to my husband, who is a foodie and also invited us into the kitchen to see the preparation. Overall it was a beautiful experience.

It was an impromptu decision to go to this small property between Dehradun and Mussourie. Recommended by one of our friends as a great de-stresser one evening when we were all sick of the extremely hard work we were doing. I think all four of us were glad we took that recomendation seriously.

Bird House gave such positive vibrations when wwe reached there the next day. The place was very neat and quiet. Lot of greenery around and the staff was very courteous. After three days of nature bathing in excellent surroundings, we all were charged up. Now everytime I feel tired, just thinking about my trip there rejuvenates me. Another visit is definitely on my to do list.
