Never miss Kempty falls. It looks bit crowded. However as the waterfalls flows thru and not a stagnant water one need not worry about cleanliness. Standing under the talks to get water massage is the best part.
Carry water dress and towel to change. You get everything for money.. Locker, towel, shorts, t shirts all on rent...with about Rs 100 you can get things on rent
Dont miss hot noodles and tea after the falls experience..
Water will be cold when you enter...after few minutes..it will be fine...Kids of height 2 feet can enjoy with Floaters..
Never miss Kempty falls...i would rate best spot in mussoorie

Kempty Fall is nearly 12 Kms from Mussoorie.

Reaching there is not a big deal as you can go to the place by Taxi/Your own vehicle/ Rented bike/Scooty.

However I suggest if one has lack of time then he/she should cover other spots rather than wasting time at Kempty Fall.

The Fall is around 200 Meters below the road and one can take the ropeway to the bottom of the cliff and then have to climb another 10 meters from the drop point of ropeway to reach the fall.

The view is so obstructed that I realized the spot only after reaching right infront of it.

So here are the glimpse:
-- Its a small pond (not bigger than a mini swimming pool) where you will find 2-3 branches of the waterfall falling
-- You will find atleast 100 people at a time at this pond and that too with big tubes in a shallow water not more than 3 feet at any place, this spoils the adventure
-- water remains too cold so if you are still going to the place then reach there in the noon
-- The place Is all surrounded by shops and vendors and you wont ever feel that you are at some place which is natural, all seems too built and artificial that the joy vanishes as soon as one reaches there
-- The ropeway ride costs 120 (bothways) and the vendors charge 100 for locker and some extra money for costumes if you borrow
Final suggestion- opt for bhattafall rather which is on the way towards Dehradoon
If you still want to enjoy cold water, better be in a swimming pool.

The falls is nice. However it is too commercialized. There is construction across the falls that mars the view of the falls. Such a pity. Tourism authority needs to do reverse that. It has spoilt such a beautiful falls. One can take a cable car or walk down to the falls.

Kempty fall is really an avoidable place these days. Too crowded, too commercialized and too much of an experience. Really a waste of time n money. Taking a cab for almost 2.5k and then 120 rupees per person gondola ticket n then 100 rupee changing room n locker all comes down to waste when you see a sea of humanity scattered all around the fall. You can't reach the bottom of fall without hitting a person on the way or stepping on feet on some. Then you have some ppl with huge tubes around their waist. I mean why does a 6 feet person need a huge tube in 4 feet of water, it's all commercialization where locals literally force you to buy their stuff

Pro tip : There's a better smaller fall at top of kempty fall. It's smaller with light flow but it's less crowded. Ask you cab driver, in fact literally force him to take you there as well. It comes before the main entrance. I've been to kempty before so I was sure to go there, the cab driver may make excuse that it doesn't hv water, it's smaller n all but just ignore. All in all, please avoid. There are lot of other places where you'll definitely enjoy more

We visited in april 2019.It was very near to my hotel JW Marriott .Before reaching kempty parking is available 100rs/day in front of reastaurants.
You go to many levels one by one on these falls but the stairs were broken so mind it.
Its good to go only during non tourist days.I wonder there must be chaos during peak tourist season making the falls unfit for bathing.
One can easily get bathing clothes , lockers, towels on rent with changing rooms....
but females please beware of people making videos!!!!
It was a nice experience to take a dip in the cold waters of kempty. No idea of ropeway.
