We stayed here for just one night. No problems with the room; it was clean and reasonably quiet but nothing special. Dinner and breakfast were good buffets with both Indian and international items. We had Indian dishes for dinner which were fine. Dinner was inexpensive at around INR900 each but, like all Indian hotels, bottles of wine were a ridiculous price (typically INR3000, GBP40). Service, especially in the restaurant, was efficient and pleasant.
The hotel does not have modern decor or furnishings, and is a little cramped, but we thought it more than adequate and totally acceptable for a short stay. Varanasi is perhaps the most complex city in northern India and we felt this hotel to be safe and calm. We travelled independently as a couple, perhaps it doesn't work so well for people arriving by the coach load.
Overall, we were content, would return and recommend the hotel for independent travellers.
TIP: hiring a boat to see the sunset prayers from the Ganges was a geat experience. But make sure to use insect repellent - we got bitten badly!
