Positiv is the location at the Ganges river and also the roof terrasse.

Negative:
- Price / Quality ratio is very poor. You pay the place and not the standard of the hotel. There must be cheaper hotels at the Ganges river that offer almost similar service.
- Toilets / bath was very smelly (big issues with canalisation)
- The elderly female receptionist did not give us the impression that we were warmly welcome. Furthermore there were clear miscommunication / misunderstanding re taxi rates etc. Not the support we expected and they saw no need to improve this situation during our stay. competent and not really friendly.

For us a disappointing experience after only positive experiences in India (see our other India feedbacks that we provided). We would not return to this hotel anymore.

Where too start, I was travelling alone as a women and a safe and clean haven was top of my list. Not only did the SH provide this but the staff were AMAZING in every way. I was there for my 40th birthday and a surprise cake and sing along brought tears to my eyes. The sunset and sunrise boat trips were totally amazing and Mr Darce the GM even arranged a boat trip across the other side so that I could have a bath in the river Ganages. A truly memorable experience that I will never ever forget. 12 out of 10 guys.. I'll be back. But I promo side next time with my husband.. Xxxx

Room Tip: I didn't get a river view. A decision in which I was happy with as people who had river views sa...

I do agree that this hotel is centrally located on the Ganges so you can walk along the Ganges. However, to get to the main sights in Varanasi you still have to get to transport. The other disadvantage of being on the Ganges is also the smell & at times when the wind was blowing across the river the smell was quite offensive.
I found the hotel room simple & basic & the shower was not cleaned proiperly with stray hairs from previous occupants still on the bathroom tiles.
The food in the restaurant was very expensive by Indian standards & was certainly the most expensive of our trip to India. Very overpriced!!!
Service at the hotel & restaurant was reasonable but not outstanding.

This haveli really does have an exceptional location right on the ghats in Varanasi. For that reason alone I would recommend it, as it is easy to stroll along the riverbank without getting lost in the maze of streets and alleys.

Our room was well appointed, with a small window overlooking the Ganges. There is a rooftop terrace with fantastic views making it a very pleasant spot to while away some time watching river craft, people and animals.

However, there were several negatives. The restaurant is very expensive (by local standards) food is only average and breakfast service is very slow if you want the cooked Indian options provided as part of the buffet.

Unfortunately the staff are not very professional eg we were woken early every morning by staff clearing their chests/throats (hoiking) within the central courtyard which made the sounds reverberate around the entire hotel. This was most unpleasant and although it is to be expected on the streets in India it is not acceptable in a good hotel. Front office staff were also pretentious and not particularly helpful.

Overall we would recommend this place for the location but it needs to improve its service significantly to reflect the high prices being charged.

We spent 3 days and 2 nights in a riverview room as mother and daughter. We took the airport transfer provided by the hotel and the driver dropped us off at one of the outer ghats on the fringe where two hotel staff were waiting for us. They promptly took our luggage and escorted us onto a private boat which ferried us to the haveli in no longer than 10 minutes. We are glad we did this as only on the second day were we able to start navigating the winding alleyways to the main street on our own.
Upon arriving at the haveli, we were welcomed by a herd of bathing buffalos and once we were upstairs, check-in didn't take long and we walked up to the terrace upstairs after unpacking our luggage. The view is great from the terrace, much better than from the room but it was too hot to stay for long.
The rooms are quite standard, what you would expect from a 3 star hotel in any other city but enough to provide a comfortable stay in an undoubtedly less than sanitary city. The bathroom is simple but clean. Air-conditioning worked fine apart from when there were power rations.
We ate at the restaurant on the first night but weren't impressed with the meal, despite being vegetarian eaters back home. Breakfast was an average selection of two to three fruits, toast, juice and eggs of your choice.
The haveli itself is located in Shivala ghat which is a few ghats away from the main ghat or about 10 minutes away by rickshaw.
We took the rickshaw to the main ghat several times during our stay and didn't pay more than 50 rupees each time. We also took a boat from a neighbouring ghat from the same boatman several times, at sunrise and sunset on both days.
The only real spoiler would be that on checkout, the staff had problems processing our payment as their payment system was not connecting. Half an hour later, and many failed attempts, they agreed to accept what we had left in AUD which was only $10 or so less than the total bill.

We recently stayed at this hotel and enjoyed our stay. The location is excellent, at one of the ghats and makes it easy to stroll along the Ganges. Friendly staff, rooms clean but small and basic. We had paid for a river view: very small window on the river, that's it. All the rooms face a central patio, don't expect to sleep long in the morning, you hear everything as early as 6am. We woke up early to see the sunrise so no problem for us, but take this into account if you like to take a rest. Breakfast needs a huge improvement. The restaurant is small and choice limited. Lunch & dinner were nice. I find this hotel overpriced as it doesn't have the finesse you would expect for such rates (about 200 euro per room!).

going from the airport was ok until we arrived closer. the taxi driver didn't know the hotel. you should mention Shivala Ghat, it might be easier.we walked from the main street to the hotel more than we should have.
hotel welcome was nice, maybe trying too hard (but that is personal preference).
room was ok. not a 5 star of course, more like 3, but you pay for location. I believe that any 5 star like hotels will be too big of a contast between varanasi and your room, so this hotel is perfect for this reason. nice and clean in perfect location. worth the price.
roof terrace was nice. yoga in the morning in the relatively fresh air and jumping monkeys around you was good.
food was reasonably nice, nothing amazing. very nice live music in the evening. we also ate at great keban factory in the Raddison hotel. that was amazing. still thinking of the minced lamb kebab.
