Good restaurants, apart from those in hotels, are sometimes hard to find in this part of India (although have to admit we hardly made an exhaustive search). We were staying in the Radisson and didn't fancy their rather sterile restaurant, and our guide directed us to Brownie's. It's a simple cafe-style place, with very friendly service from incredibly energetic waiters. Food was excellent. We had tandoori-chicken, dhal and a selection of the heavenly breads. The Buddhist decoration gave the clue that this wasn't a typical Hindu restaurant although am not sufficiently expert to know whether the food was more Nepalese than Indian.
