“Pleasant break from bustling Varanasi streets”
Reviewed August 3, 2014

We first came across this semi-hidden eating destination just as the heat and calls of "Durggaaa" were beginning to get to us. From the outside, the archway hide most clear signs that we were entering a restaurant, but upon entry we discovered that this small outside cafe was nestled away next to a quaint and forgotten temple.

We were greeted by pleasant employees and a friendly owner who, smiling throughout our stay, were happy to get us information on everything from local palm readers to how to get to the closest temple.

After eating a truly delicious, and healthy meal, we had already decided we would return. Returning the next day, we were given wi-fi and told we could keep our bags at the establishment.while we went sightseeing. We left truly refreshed, with fantastic food in our bellies, and smiles on our faces.

Truly a place to visit again.

Wow this place is a little haven, we went here three times whilst in Varanasi, laid back, decent tasty food, staff were pleasant, really enjoyed just chilling out here. Would recommend.

“Go for the atmosphere of lost glory. And relax”
Reviewed March 10, 2014

This is not a place to expect great service or consistently good food. Previous reviews tell me it once was a great cafe but now the painted over pillars will tell you of the lost aesthetic as well as the poor service. I think the staff was stoned which is why they were forgiven for being so sullen. Most people in Varanasi manage a smile every half an hour or even more frequently. The vibe here was a little more dour. The food arrived in about average time but that was after one had to walk into the kitchen area and coax a server to provide the menu and take the order.
This is not the best-run place in Varanasi but the relaxed ambiance does lull you into forgiving everything. Even being charged extra for the club soda.
The temple next to the cafe has intricate carving. Place your order when you find a server or have managed to coax him out and saunter off to the temple for a leisurely stroll. If you find your food has arrived by the time you get back - remember how amazing that feels? - feels fortunate. If not, take shots of the wall art. There are layers of it, painted one over the other. The architecture too will keep you engrossed. Keep your cool and play along with the mood and the pace. This is not a place for people with OCD or little time. It's an oasis from the rush right outside on the street. Wallow a bit. There's enough shade and enough time.

“waited 40 minutes no service”
Reviewed February 23, 2014

really a grave disappointment. lost its charm in one year. new owners haven't a clue as to how to run a restaurant
. Waitress walks by, looks & walks on. Stands in service area w/ blank stare. new customers come in, she lools & does nothing.

“No respect to NRI customers”
Reviewed February 6, 2014

Hi,

I been to varanasi last week and based on this portal reviews I visited this resturent, Here the staff and owner have no response or respect to NRI and Indian customers. When i visted this resturant he have group of foreign customers(whites) so he not ready to respond to my order and not even served water about 20 min, when I ask him for servies and order his response is he can't respond if he have foreign customers with big order, so with his response I left the resturant with lot of waiting and not taking any food.

Now think your self if you want to visit or not.
