Description: Stop by for espresso based coffee at one of our cafes or come over for a meal served by our pleasant staff. At our stores you will find great products for sale too which are made in-house by our manufacturing unit in Delhi. You can smell our home baked cakes from far and soon we'll be serving homemade ice cream as well. In Leh our meals consist of organic veggies, true to the spirit of Ladakh where nature still rules. Sit on our balcony in the holy city of Varanasi and sip some of India's best coffee while you watch Indian life go by. Stop by for some hot and spicy chai at our manufacturing unit in Old Delhi. We love visitors!

I wasn't in Varanasi for very long, but I really loved this little café. Breakfast was wonderful and the cappuccino was the best. The fair trade items provided great gifts for the folks back home! DON'T MISS IT!

“Fair Trade toys and items for a great cause - and great coffee!!!”
Reviewed December 12, 2013

It was great finding this place - the coffees were especially great! The Salad that I had for lunch was VERY tasty, and my son's chicken was good too! A great ambiance, a great place to hang out, use the WiFi (as long as you buy at least 1 thing per hour if you are sitting there sapping their internet...a reasonable request, one that Panera in the US and many other cafe's around the world have also.

And I love the fair trade wares throughout the place...very nice place, and we're happy we came!

“A really cool cafe”
Reviewed December 6, 2013

We really enjoyed our breakfast and chai here. The service, atmosphere and food are all incredible. It is a tourist's getaway for sure, but we really like the fact that our money was going towards a good cause. Overall, we felt very relaxed and comfortable here. There are also some really neat things in their gift shop. Prices are a bit expensive, but again, it is going towards a good cause.

“When you need a bit of western comfort, this is the place!”
Reviewed December 6, 2013

To get some time out from the hectic Varanasi, Open Hand would be your option. Located near to the much quieter Assi Ghat, this is a popular hangout for backpackers. Serving good large cups of coffees and cakes, with good wifi, as well as interesting souvenir shops selling fair-trade items, you could sit down (my favourite spot is the balcony) and chill out easily for hours. I would highly recommend this place if you come visit Varanasi.

“A nice place for coffee and cake”
Reviewed November 16, 2013

Overall, Open Hand is a nice place to relax with some decent Western food. The menu is good but a bit overpriced. The desserts are definitely a highlight as they are good value for money and really tasty- especially the carrot cake and the caramel banana muffin! Service is inconsistent- we have had some good and not so good experiences. The gift shop is nice but generally very expensive- you can find fair trade products with reasonable prices elsewhere in Varanasi.
