Description: Brown Bread Bakery and Organic Food P.Ltd is the very first organic bakery with restaurant in India with branches in Varanasi and Delhi. Since 2015 we started also a Vegan restaurant Varanasi. The company supports the projects of Learn for Life by using the profits for funding the school and to provide fair working conditions for all the staff. We use as many organic ingredients as possible for our products. All our bakery items are made from different kinds of organic grains which are always grinded freshly. The grains, the rice and the lentils are produced by certified small farmers which we visit and check regularly.

We walked in for lunch on a friend's recommendation and were pleasantly surprised to see the seating arrangement. You can take off your shoes and relax your limbs while you sip your drink or eat your food. The menu is primarily aimed at foreign tourist and most items have cheese but that is no reason why you can't enjoy the food here.

You will find something of your interest which is good yet not spicy and non greasy.

We got tricked into the wrong one at first glance. The right one has a rooftop terrace with lots of plants and a view of Varanasi. There is also a clothing store beneath it. Food was pretty good with great fresh oj.

Once you find the real Brown Bread Bakery, you'll be rewarded with copious amounts of delicious cheese and crusty brown bread. Opt for the Rs. 300 buffet as this is quite the bargain for unlimited cheese, bread, museli, yogurt, etc.

As other reviews say be careful and make sure you go to the right one as there are a few fakes, four at my last count. The real one is about 300m past Ganga Fuji restuarant if ganga Fuji is on your right. brown Bread Bakery will be on your left with a yellow sign and you will have to walk up five flights of stairs past shops.

It's worth the travel to get there. The staff are very attentive, the rooftop terrace gives you a nice view and they will even light citronella candles for you to keep mozzies at bay. Free complimentary basket of breads with chutney for any food orders. I ordered the vegetarian lasagne and it was fresh, tasty and very delicious. The restuarant also has info on a school for disadvantaged children they help support. They also offer Gamges boat tours with a picnic from the restuarant you can eat in the boat. Fantastic and well done team!!!

we are happy that they could not fool you and bring to one of the fake restaurants illegally using our name, signboards, menu and even pictures from schoolkids on the walls (they would ask you for donations) See below some tips how to find out if you are at the real restaurant.
Volunteers from austria started the info cafe at 7pm, where all interested travelers can get first hand information about the school project. From 7.30pm to 9pm you can listen to the free classical indian concert. Musicians are welcome to join!
From 5.30-20.00 we arrange boat trips for 100 rs/1h. The boat man who is a father of one of our schoolkids gets the whole amount. If you want you can order also a picnic basket or just a thermosbottle with steaming hot coffee/tea to beat the early morning chill on the rifer!

More and more travelers realize that there are fake restaurants using our name, it helps us a lot that in the latest LP from october 2013 they even issue a warning about that scam (the fake ones collect donations for our school project "learn for life", only we the original one don t take ANY donations! that s an easy way to find out if u got fooled!).
Since the warning in LP and from many travelers and their advice to check if the restaurant has 4 floors with a rooftop, the fake one on the other side of the street tries to fool customers who ask for the rooftop by telling them that the roof is closed at the moment because of monkeys, a recent fire, construction.... or they send you to Rudra Guest House (on their website they ask you to donate money for their fake school project!!!) and show you the restaurant on its roof there!!!!!!
We recently reopened our shop "Organic" at tulsi ghat, where you can get our bakery products, cheese and other natural/organic products.
Our business cards have the adr from Varanasi on one side and on the other is the logo and adr from our branch in Delhi/Paharganj.
Pls check our phone no, website and the pictures available on tripadvisor to be sure not to get fooled!! Or just ask for me, Micha (german!), till now they did not manage to present a copy of me!!!

Thank you

Micha
