“Quite expensive”
Reviewed December 27, 2012

I will say that if at all you have to taste the Kabab and Biriyani, go to Zeeshan's near Lucknow Press Club or behind Hotel Maple Leaf on way to Aminanbad/Nazirabad market. Anything in Hazratgunj charges a premium. A plate chicken biriyani and reshmi kabab will cost you around INR 500. In areas I mentioned you'll get a plate of muttom kabab for around INR 100. And the later tastes like heaven, while the former, though deliciously presented, leaves much to be desired. And after all in Lucknow, if it's biriyani or kabab, it has to be mutton-based.

Cleanliness is the main concern pest control needs to be done and new linen has to be purchased. The food is just good and the service needs to be improved

“Excellent food, average service, average decor”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

We visited this place as a number of our friends had highly recommended it.
Decor is average with sparse decor. Service was average and it took longer than the norm for serving dishes.

However all that was worth it, as food quality was superb. They excelled in North Indian, specifically Mughlai cuisine although a number of other options were available for food.

Murgh Tikka, Gosht Masala, Paneer Kadhai was excellently prepared and not too spicy or oily/greasy.
Shahi Tukra was really good as dessert.

Finally: I think this place is definitely worth a visit if you are in Lucknow.

Suggestion to the management: Please improve both service and the decor.

“Nawabs: An Awadhi Delight!”
Reviewed July 6, 2012

The Nawabs provides for a quintessential awadhi experience. The food, the ambience, add to that the live ghazal, and you have the complete mughal ensemble. The food is great though you will do better to ask the waiter to check your order "as you weren't satisfied the last time you visited";this is sure to make your meal better!Stick to the richest of the mughal dishes and you will do great..the reshmi kebabs, murg tikkas and butter nans feel heavenly in a place like this.In a way Nawabs is the mughal cuisine connoisseur's delight for the dishes are famous for their similarity to the actual mughal cuisine!try for a seat near the ghazal artists where you can even request your favourite songs! The most enjoyable meal would surely be dinner for that is when the ambiance takes it's effect truly..The fact that the restaurent is situated in Hazratganj, a British era marketplace and that too on the prime spot on MG road, makes the grandeur ten times as much!Family is a must to enjoy here..do checkout the happy hours for savings.

“Good location.......average food... good ambience.......”
Reviewed June 28, 2012

Nawab's is a part of Capoor Hotel in Hazratganj hence the prime location.... Aged but still maintained nicely...
I've been a regular at this place for many years now. They used to serve even water in heavy brass goblets but that has changed now ....
Do not have very high expectations on the seating area and you'll be happy....Old paintings of Nawabs to add to the ambience.. occasional sessions of ghazals which are nice and not too overpowering.
Food quality.... some of their dishes like Tangri kebabs are really delicious... Biryanis and good... don't even think of trying anything continental..... stick of mughlai and you'd be better off...
Well if you are looking for a moderately priced and reasonably authentic Lucknow food with decent seating... this is the right place...
I'd love it if they can serve a chilled beer during a hot afternoon... but this is Lucknow.... if you want a drink, you have to go up to this creepy bar or lounge or whatever it is...
but then I love Lucknow.... and since the authentic Lucknavi food is normally not available in comfortable surroundings, i prefer this place....
