We stayed in this hotel for our visit to Taj Mahal. When we checked in, we were warmly welcomed by the staffs and were upgraded to a suite! The Emperor Chandragupta suite was one rather large room, with its private access to the swimming pool. This being a heritage hotel, the decoration of the suite tends to be, well, heritage. There was nothing wrong with that, especially when there is ample room to be running around if you wish, and even the bathroom was huge. The only quirk with the bathroom was that the bathtub did not have any shower curtains around it. So after a shower, the bathroom floor would be soaking wet.
The hotel compound is rather spacious as well, with the swimming pool at one side of our suite and a big garden at the other. November happens to be a very pleasant time to be visiting Agra so the cool night breeze makes a quite sit at the garden pretty relaxing. The food at the restaurant was pretty good too, and so was the breakfast buffet.
It is not one of those hotels that you consider posh. However, with the special treatment that we received, it was still a pretty good stay.
