“Good Experience for a 3* hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 28, 2009

We had traveled through different cities in India and all the hotels we stayed at were 3* - this one is on the good list. The reception was very efficient and pleasant. We stayed in room 403 (suite). The beds were decent and comfortable. The room was spacious enough to have an extra bed for our son. The bathroom was clean but the tub needed updating. Overall we were happy.
The only thing - the Currency Exchange desk seemed to be always closed. Also,
I would not spend the money in this hotel for the Taj View room because the smog/fog is pretty thick in there and the hotel is pretty far from the Taj. We only stayed there one night but we could not see the Taj from any window in that hotel even from the revolving restaurant. We stayed in December so I'm not sure if the "air" clear during other seasons.

We stayed in the Pushp Villa as part of a 2 night 3 day trip to Delhi and the Taj Mahal using 3 star accomodation. After seeing the local establishments we were quite relieved to be in the hotel. We were welcomed and almost overwhelmed with hospitaliy at check in with free drinks. As is normal for India, the porter took us and our cases to the room on the 6th floor. The room was a bit dark but functional, the air con and TV worked, the bathroom had a few leaks and very tired but shower was ok. We soon had a knock at the door offering massages in the spa, after a bit of bartering we went for head and back at a fair price. The Spa is actually a couple of sectioned off rooms in the basement and although they attemped ambience, a business meeting next door was not conducive for calm. We had a very nice dinner in the revolving restaurant but found the fatal flaw. Our room on the 6th was under the kitchens and restaurant so we did not get much sleep. Breakfast was OK too. Overall did the job for us at a reasonable price but do not expect too much and you won't be disappointed.

Rooms a good size and with comfortable bed, but a bit dusty and not spotless but adequate. Took a while for hot water to come through but it did eventually,

Ate in the revolving restaurant upstairs which was an amusing feature that caused considerable confusion for all - where was the way out now???

Service in the restaurant was slow and haphazard. My husband asked for another beer - the head waiter told someone else to fetch it, who told someone else, who told someone else etc etc. It never arrived, probably because the person at the bottom of this chain was trying to do everything in the restaurant. When it was served the food was rather good though.

My travel agent booked this hotel for my over-night stay in Agra. When I walked into their Receiption, I was impressed but the moment, we checked into the room it was total disappointment. Bathroom fittings were leaking, bath tub was dirty, no hand-shower and the bath room was getting flooded!!!

This hotel boast of Revolving Restaurant but it was not working. I could not see Taj Mahal from Red Fort and don't know how this hotel say, they have Taj Looking Rooms!!

It is a quite average kind of a hotel. Not utterly bad but quite a few scope for improvement.

The lobby is nicely decorated and quite spaceous. There is a money changer desk. There were supposedly a massage parlour too, we never availed it anyway ...

The room we stayed was 615. It was spaceous. There was a 3 piece sofa set with a center table.

The amenities included a cooler (which, fortunately didn't make much noise and could be regulated), a dressing table, a mini fridge. Bathroom had a bath tub. No balconies. Broken windowpane.

The room didn't have adequate lighting. Remained darkish during night.

They aligned two single beds to prepare a double bed. The beds didn't quite fit in, hence a prominent gap remained in the middle. Funnily - they never tried to obscure it by covering it up with a double bedseet (as most hotels do ...) Moreover - they gave us two distinct blanket !!! Couples beware :)

Housekeeping did happen. Room service was prompt.

We had buffet breakfast. The first day it was good with Bread butter, Puri, three type of curries, boiled as well as fried eggs, canned juice ... The next day's was flop. Only bread butter, parantah (very very oily) , something like alu tikki, only fried egg and juice. No curry, no boild eggs

The revolving resturant was interesting. An experience in itself. It has a view of the Taj as well. They have a bino installed for viewing it up close! Food is pretty average. Chicken biriyani was a disaster. They however, had a great variety of items to choose from!

The place is NOT that close to the Taj as it claims to be. It is atleast 3-5 km from the eastern gate. People should try the following hotels - Hotel Sheela, Taj Khema and Oberoi Amarvillas (in that order) if they wish to be real close to the Taj. (Note: The tiket counter would be a bit far from these hotels)

The staff was fairly helpful and wel behaved. They were however not at all able to answer tourism related queries.

Overall I liked my stay and would like to recommend the hotel to others.

My husband and I toured around India in Summer 2009 and stayed in a number of hotels of varying quality. Thankfully, we only had to endure one night in this place.
The reception is bright and pleasant and the staff are perfectly pleasant an welcoming, but behind this initially promising facade is an awful hotel that shouldn't be allowed to call itself 3*.
Our room was dirty and desperately in need of updating. There was dust/general grime gathered in the corners where it clearly hadn't been thoroughly cleaned. The "air con"/fan was filthy and the window was black and damp. I then ventured into the bathroom which was unbelievable...the bath tub/shower was filthy with years of accumulated grime and there was black mould everywhere. The shower curtain was filthy with obvious stains and it stank of damp. I could go on but I'll let you look at the photos.

The TV and fridge didn't work (fridge also filthy) and horrifyingly there was not one working socket for my hair straightners/ipod; the one the fan was plugged into was cracked and fell apart as I pulled the plug out, the one by the dresser was hanging off the wall with trailing wires. I then pulled the cabinet out with the TV on it to try to access a plug there and was so disgusted by the filth and dirt behind it that I swiftly gave up on this mission!

Do not go there....
