Beautiful place indeed, the marble and the art work in incredible. I've always wanted to see this great wonder of the world and believe me, it met my expectations. Wow, the designs, and gem stones carved in marble is a great piece of artwork. No wonder it took them so long to build... no more details from me because you have to go there and experience it for yourself.

We visited the Taj on 2/13 and were blown away by the beauty. the early morning is the best time to go as the crowds are down and the lighting is good for photographs. .The entry fee is 750 rupees for a one time entry. However since nothing but water is allowed in, you can get back in with your same day ticket by telling the guard you went out for lunch. We visited at 7-11 AM and then again at 4-6 PM. If you ask at the ticket counter they will tell you to buy another ticket but if you go to the entry gate, they will put you on line and let you in. The crowds at night were crazy and the entry process (for women) was really slow (>30 minutes). The following is more geared toward photographers. There is some nice photo ops at sunset. One trick is to go to the mosque on the left side and for a fee, they will let you frame the Taj through their door ways making some dramatic photos. (We were told the mosque was off limits). After that, rush over to the other side where the setting sun can be framed around the Taj and the minarets. You can also frame the Taj around some trees on the far right hand path that no one goes on. Finally, a nice surprise was the presence of green parrots in abundance (and macaques.)

The place was amazing.. I stayed at a hotel nearby the western gate and it just take 2 minutes walk to reach the entrance gate.. Arrived there around 6.30am and the que was already long.. it took about 30 minutes for us to get the tickets and another 20 minutes to get in.. the charge was Rs750 for foreigner and you get a free mineral water and a shoe cover.. but the experience is definitely worth every penny you spent!.. I spent about 3 hours inside there taking pictures and enjoy the view of the Taj.. make sure you bring your camera's as you wouldn't want to miss to capture this amazing wonders of the world! Any India trip is not complete if you do not visit the Taj Mahal :)

Booked a tour with Indian experience from UK which included a week the golden triangle and 2 weeks in Goa. My favourite part of the tour was visiting the Taj Mahal It certainly dosn't disappoint just amazing. I also loved the Red fort Agra the elephant trek to the fort was brilliant. The tour was well organised everything went to plan even the transfer to Goa well worth it...

The Taj is definately a must see. A guide definately makes the experience more meaningful. Tickets are purchased at the booking hall for Rs750 for foreigners and you leave your bags with electronics and food in a locker. A free shuttle takes you two minutes down the road to the East gate. You have to go through a security check point where they check your bags and pat you down. Guides are $450 each and take you on a 2.5 hour tour. You could spend much longer there if you wanted.
I recommend going to the Taj first then Agra Fort afterwards which is only a short autorickshaw drive away.
