“Thrilled at Jaypee”
Reviewed April 16, 2009

We went for a long weekend getaway to Agra with family and we booked this hotel using Expedia.

We enjoyed every bit of our stay in this hotel and the best part was the excellent food.

My daughter enjoyed the pool, was very well taken care by the hotel staff. She felt like home staying 2 nights in this hotel.

Rooms were clean, good ambience and strategically located close to Taj mahal. Excellent staff and good service.

Thanks

Rajat

I loved the old fashioned architecture of the hotel, the grandeur and the spendour. Added to the charm was the fact that the hotel was famously associated with the historic Agra summit between Gen Mussaraf and Mr Atal Bihari Vajpai.

This is a beautiful, large, modern hotel located just 2.5 km east of the Taj Mahal - an easy 5 minute drive to the main entrance. Hotel has all amenities, from great pool and tennis courts, to large business center and convention facilities, to excellent restaurants, incl a great 24-hr 'cafe' (really a full service restaurant). Flowers and well-kept lawns abound on the large grounds - even a jogging trail. Monkeys are frequently seen (incl a large langur - the hotel pet). Our room was very clean and had a nice balcony overlooking one of the courtyards, and was fairly quiet, though outside the room street noise is evident. We felt the service was as good as any we have had. While we had considered hotels with a view of Taj, the extra cost (esp when you realize it is not illuminated so cannot be seen at night) was definitely warranted.

Its an ok hotel, looks nice from the outside, however rooms are ok. Beds are hard as a rock. we had to request additional mattresses be added to the beds. Restaurants were closed in the middle of the day and had limited menu. Overall is an ok place to stay for 1-2 nights would not stay too much longer.

The rooms were more than acceptable; the service, except for the restaurants, was outstanding.
Buffet breakfasts were good, but it was never clear what you could get when. Lines opened and closed on what appeared to be a random schedule.
The business center people were very helpful as were those on the front desk.
This is not a "cozy" hotel, but it functions well, and we were pleased.

My wife and I just came back from a one week tour of Rajasthan. We had a great time but a very poor experience of two nights in this hotel. We were inexplicably given a room with a bathroom apparently designed for a guest in a wheelchair. There was no bathtub or shower cabin. A shower spout in the wall sent water falling directly onto the bathroom floor. Combined with the stopped up drains, showering caused lasting flooding on a dangerously slippery stone floor. After one night of having to go to the toilet with our feet in water and although the hotel was reportedly half empty, the front desk was not interested in allowing us to change rooms. After a call to housekeeping and a written notice to the management, the maintenance crew's attempt to unstop the drainage on the second day was only partially successful. We experienced a second night of bathroom flooding and saw no follow up or any evidence of concern from the management. This hotel is just too big and impersonal.
