“Horrible food & pool but good rooms”
Reviewed July 21, 2009

The hotel is well placed for a tour of the Taj and Red Fort and the rooms are excellent. We were upgraded to a deluxe which was large, modern, clean and very comfortable. The staff were mostly very friendly and helpful. Excellent and speedy laundry service.
Thats where the positives end though, The food was awful, we heard many people with the same thoughts. The dinner & breakfast buffets were very low standard, luke warm food, a poor selection, all set in a dark and dingy room. The pool area was dirty and run down, although I can understand that this is difficult to avoid in India due to the heat and dust.

I feel akward complaining about the standard of the hotel when just outside the gates was such heart wrenching poverty but I do think its important to let people know what to expect, especially when paying a fair amount of money. Overall Id say fine for an overnight stay but no more.

The hotel desk staff are fine and the rooms neat and tidy. The look out deck to the Taj Mahal, pretty neat.

Being the ONLY person in the 'coffee shop' restaurant while staff bustles around you but not one greets you until you are ready to walk out, not so neat. Also not neat to be the only person in the 'coffee shop' and have to wait an hour for a sandwich.

The previous evening saw us spending a lot of money eating at the Indian restaurant and enjoying the food a great deal. Though service was slower than 'Indian Time' and the marked-up 2500Rps bottle of wine being served to the table with the original 645Rps price tag still on the bottle. Priceless.

The hotel would do better with evaluating the service staff on the floor of both restos. Unsure if the current staff have been with the property long though judging by their' ages one would suspect they have, unfortunately the service style falls short of their' assumed service history.

I received a good rate, being low season, but I found the hotel to be decidedly more expensive that other hotels in India for room services, restaurants and gym usage (which was an exhorbitant charge unless you used the hotel spa). The hotel itself is a little dated and should not command such a high premium.

On a recent trip to Agra to visit the Taj.. we decided upon the ITC.... It was in the perfect location to view the sights, and we did so by means of the hotel driver, who had the smartest electric tok tok I've ever seen.. he drove us there and proceeded to be our tour guide for the day at a very reasonable price...

After doing the sights of Agra, the hotel was a welcome re-treat, the rooms were lovely, very light with a few fun features...

The Royal Spa was lovely and has an extensive range of treatments.. very nice if you are travelling with a partner to be able to relax and unwind together..

For our evening meal, we went to Peshawri we had a fantastic meal, where the service was excellent.. go on, tuck and eat with your hands...!!

If you are around at sunrise or sunset, they also have a viewing platform to see the Taj, I would recommend the sunrise, it was a spectacular sight with great photo opportunities.

What an experience? Among the top hotels in the country and a total five-star experience. I completely felt as I was a princess. Architecturally this place beautiful, with amazing rooms, dining areas, bars, spa and the gymnasium. Environmentally they are a responsible group. the gymnasium in the hotel is great and I simply love the wooden deck made outside for a person to lounge when its not so hot. The Spas were amazing and had various kinds of treatments and was a very relaxing, calming and a soothing place. The hotel houses one of the greatest restaurant chains-Peshawri which serves the most amazing Indian food I have ever eaten and is simply mouth watering and out of the world. The rooms are very comfortable and service is extremely hospitable. he morning breakfast served was lavish but the only problem that i had that the french breads, doughnuts served were slightly old and didn't seem to be fresh. But all in all it was an amazing experience and thoroughly enjoyed it.

We were travelling with 2 kids under the age of 7 so this holiday was focussed on their enjoyment.
The Hotel is a very beautiful property. Its lush green, vast and has enormous space for everything that you want to do on a holiday, be it swimming, playing croquet, driving all terrain vehicles or golf carts etc. It does show that property is old as signs of wear and tear are evident but the staff is doing a good job at maintaining it.
Our check in was efficient enough and within 10 minutes, we were escorted to our rooms. We made a small change at the end moment and it was well taken care of.
Rooms are good quality, a little worn out but well furnished. One must opt for a pool view room as it has the best location. Beds are heavenly (much better than other ITC hotels) and one can choose a pillow from the lovely pillow menu.
Swimming pool is a little small and can get stuffy if you have more than 20-30 ppl in the pool. The Spa is a speciality of the hotel and the masseurs are very professional and knowledgable. Gym is good too.
We had food at Peshawri" the Indian Restaurant" which is def at par with Bukhara at ITC Maurya in New Delhi (in terms of food, price etc). Service is impeccable and food was delicious. Ambience and decor is out dated but what the heck.
Breakfast was good too, although the restaurant itself is a little small again. Service was very good.
The Concierge has great knowledge regarding the city and are very helpful.

Overall, our short stint in Agra was so memorable, thanks to ITC Mughal and its wonderful staff.
