The place to stay at Agra for someone looking beyond lodges and guest houses but not willing to pay for the Radisson and Oberoi. Clean, very comfortable rooms and a decent free breakfast. All this at a prime location near the Taj mahal. Fantastic value!

The best part of the hotel is the bed. Very comfortable! The room has enough space. I also liked the staff. Very friendly and professional. The breakfast buffet has a bit too few choices I thought. While I was there the elevator didn't work. The worst part is the surrounding area, which is extremely dirty. Since it's a not so long walk to the Taj Mahal eastern gate I walked there. Don't stay here during Ramadan. There is a minaret close by that is quite loud in the middle of the night.

This is a very comfortable and modern hotel with all the amenities. The buffet breakfast was excellent. The restaurant food was very good and the prices very reasonable. The staff was friendly and eager to help. It is walking distance from the place where you buy tickets for the Taj.

Excellent hotel. Professional service, great cuisine, swimming pool well supervised and clean. Only drawback was location. Close to Agra Fort and Taj Mahal but locale very dissapointing! Walk outside and you are in the poorer side of Agra with the usual touts selling bracelets, fridge magnets etc. However, not much different from elsewhere, once inside, security excellent and management first class. All in all an excellent choice.

Rooms were good, clean and comfortable. Food and service was good. It had all modern amenities and a good budget. It is near to the Taj Mahal. All in all a good hotel. I will recommend it to all my friends and relatives.

I was business trip to Agra when i stayed twice and found the hotel equipped with all modern amenities in very good budget in a world class heritage city like Agra. The staff was courteous and very attentive, careful and helpful. The quality and spread of food also comparable to any good hotel. Overall experience is awesome.

The Retreat is a fairly new hotel in Agra as of May 2012. The newness showed, as facilities and amenities were clean and in good repair. The hotel staff is excellent - when The Retreat opened, it hired good, seasoned workers from other hotels. The food is good, especially when ordered off of the menu rather than the breakfast buffet. However, even the buffet has some good made-to-order omelets. For anyone wishing for a nice midrange stay in Agra, The Retreat is an excellent choice. The only downsides were that you have to pay for wifi internet access (it is not expensive, but still) and the neighborhood is not the best after dark. Still I will happily stay at The Retreat again.
