This place seemed like a nice enough place to crash for a night after visiting the Taj Mahal, but don't be fooled. I will never return. This home stay (really, a B&B) is in a residential neighbourhood, and is no where near any of the Agra tourist destinations. Because of this, following our day at the Taj Mahal, our rickshaw driver could not find the way to the home stay, even though we had given him a business card with both the address and a map of the location. When eventually we found our way back, after a 40 minute rickshaw detour, we were greeted by our host shouting and swearing at us in the street, apparently because we had arrived back too late in the evening (it was around 23:30, although we had been told of no curfew).

When we finally got to bed that night we were all fairly upset at the way we had been treated. The three of us tried to let it go, hoping it was all only a misunderstanding. We eventually went to sleep. The next morning we were greeted by legs covered in bug bites... that's right - BED BUGS!!!

In the morning, after realising we had been bitten by bed bugs, we just wanted to take a shower and leave. Which was great, since this place evidently doesn't have hot water, but does have a spider web covered shower.

The last insult was the breakfast (which was meant to be included). It consisted of a Weatherspoon's-calbibre omelette, and a tea served in a dirty cup. Finally we were overcharged - our deposit was evidently considered a sunk cost at this point, and shown the door.

DO NOT STAY HERE! You would be much better off staying anywhere else. The owner is and over confident man who is quick to anger, the accommodations are dirty and substandard, and the location is a mystery - even to locals.

We decided to stay here to enjoy Agra on a two day visit as not to rush to the Taj on a one day stop from Delhi and couldn't have done better. The room was great, big, clean and quiet despite being on ground level (we went for the cheapest Executive double for 1150 rupees to stay within our budget). We also had two of our meals here and liked them as well.
We went with Mr. Rajiv's, the owner's, recommendations for our two day itinerary and got to see what we wanted. He recommended hiring a car for one day for 1200 rupees which was quite a sum comparing to what we paid for the room but in the end we were glad we took the offer as the driver was there for us the whole day, dropping us off to the sites and waiting till we finished touring them so no hassle with having to haggle prices with rikshas or taxis. We would have hired him also for the second day to go to Fatehpur Sikri but as I fell ill we had to cancel the trip. It was really helpful that given the situation we were able to keep our room for half the price for the whole day till our evening train departure and I could rest.
As there are a lot of mosquitos at Agra, don't forget to take a good repelent and keep the ceiling fan on if you happen to let any into your room at night.

This was a very nice home in a quiet neighborhood, owned by a gracious family that made the stay very enjoyable. The rooms were huge, exceptionally clean and nicely designed. The public spaces, such as the dining room, balconies and patio were great to relax and enjoy a drink and chat with fellow travelers. The dinner meal, which was optional, was prepared exactly as ordered and very tasty. This Home Stay is an exceptional bargain and a real pleasure to enjoy amongst the Agra chaos!

We stayed at Sai and initially thought it was fine, with decent rooms and OK food but the following day most of our party had bites that didn't come from mosquitos. The side room in the family suite was very hot as the air-con was in the other room and did not spread well.

Room Tip: stay somewhere else

Lovely big rooms in a quiet area with an outside patio, and helpful staff. Compared to other Indian hotels this is a gem. We wanted somewhere with a window (rare) that opened to the outdoors (even rarer in Indian cities) and that wasn't high rise. What we got was a balcony/terrace out the front door and a shared courtyard with tables etc out the back door. Wonderful. We only stayed one night but they provided our evening meal which was excellent. Spotlessly clean. Cannot find anything to fault about it.

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay at the homestay. The family are lovely people and are very helpful. The room we had was very clean, spacious and the bathroom was spotless with a nice hot shower.
The food there was also very good! Probably the best banana lassi we had in Our 2 month stay in India!
Even though Sai Homestay is not in the centre of the town, we would definitely recommend it.
