“Good location but be careful!”
Reviewed February 25, 2014 via mobile

This is perfect to visit Taj Mahal by walking distance, especially if you are the early bird that want to see TM at dusk. Only Oberoi has a better location and it is just a 100m close to it! Otherwise everything there is average especially the rooms at first floor (=underground floor) with no window! Refuse 111 and 112 they are next to the kitchen and very noisy! We couldn't sleep the first night. Then we were transfered after complaining to the 3rd floor and it was ok. Just ok.

We stayed here for two nights in February as a group of eight people. We arrived several hours late due to incompetencies with Air India. Check in very quick and previous requests for two twin rooms and rooms on upper levels were met with no problem. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms clean and modern and the food in the restaurant was great. The only issue is they are not licensed to sell alcohol at all so they have to send out for it. On our second night we did ask if we could bring our own alcohol and was told yes however when we sat down they said we could not do this but after a lot of discussion and complaints from our party they reluctantly agreed. The Rajasthani dancer and Sita player in the reception area on our second evening provided great entertainment and we all joined in the dancing. The best thing about the hotel is the location as the ticket office for the Taj is just meters away and then a short walk to the Taj Mahal which is truly amazing. The street outside is very busy during the day with lots of hawkers harassing you to buy their goods which is the norm i think. The Wi Fi had a good connection and is free (as it should be in all hotels). Our only other gripe is we were told breakfast would be left out for us as we had to leave at 230 in the morning but this didn't happen. When one of our party asked why, he denied this would have been agreed and was quite rude. The gentleman on the door was also very friendly and was always happy to pose for photos. All in all yes i would stay here again and would recommend to others.

The hotel staff is very welcoming. The rooms are small but enough and they are very clean. The water pressure in the showers was great. They have a rooftop terrace from where you can appreciate the taj mahal. We checked out at noon but had to catch the train at night so they let us leave our luggage at reception and chill out, use the swimming pool and wifi. It made our stay easy and enjoyable.

stayed 2 nights in a premium dbl. from 10feb2014, booking through travel guru.
am quite ambiguous when i think about the hotel itself, you see the taj (our second visit) compenstaes for everything(including agra itself) and have to make some effort to recall the hotel experience itself.
the biggest thing going for this hotel is its location, and that said everything else i would rate as average for the price paid. the facilities by themselves are adequate for the price taking into account it's location. rooms are clean and the food is slightly above average and would be considered overpriced anywhere else. breakfast OK.
now for the experience itself...while everything seems all legal as per the description given by the hotel itself, the experienced traveller will notice that they don't volunteer anything at all, no useful tips about visiting the taj ( three people gave me 3 different times of admission to the taj in the morning. the front desk told me it opens after 7.30am. so i should have my breakfastand then go for the visit) helpful suggestions for shopping etc. (when my wife asked for the location of the State Govt. operated official handloom & handicraft shop , they tried to pass off a nearby shop as the one, and i was watching from a distance as the receptionist insisted to my wife that it was as asked, but i knew the address as i had done enough research and when i confronted him he tried to explain away saying the govt. shop was far away and this recommended shop was also licenced by the govt.). you have to ask for the taj tickets & shoe covers also. i can continue but u should get a picture by now. and to top it all when i checked out at 4am. an additional dining bill(not mine) was included by mistake as usual. i was told we would be getting packed breakfasts as we were leaving at 4am. and was even given the menu, but i forgot all about it and they didnt give them to us either.

so would i stay here again? no.

should you book here, well if u are a first time visiter to agra and a foreigner who doesn't want to stay in the backpacker's accomodations abutting the taj walls, this is a pretty good bet because u can walk down to the taj very early in the morning( and that is the best time to visit) we walked down to the gate by 5.45am. did a lazy goround about the compound and were first in line when it opened its doors at7am. they have seperate lines for foreigners and at opening there were already more than a hundred at the east gate, more would stream in from west gate than the east gate at any given time. if u cant afford the oberois' amar vilas down the road then this is a good bet, but keep ur eyes open and research beforehand. u can walk down to taj and after the visit u can catch the electric car for rs.10/ each for locals and free for foreigners(they already paid a lot for the tkt) and step off at the hotel gate(and the hotel doesn't give u this info either).

The location of this hotel is great, the breakfast is also good and the service is welcoming.
The rooms are so so - many of them smell and in the lower floors there are no windows.

From my experience the best rooms are the ones starting with 300 (i.e. 304)

The rooftop restaurant is expensive and not recommended.
No crib was provided for our baby even though it was promised in advance over the phone (but this is India so they always promise things without even understanding what you are asking for).

If you want to spoil yourself, this is not the hotel for you.
If you want a cheap hotel, this is not the hotel for you.
If you are looking for something nice for an average price - go to this hotel but avoid the smelly rooms.

Room Tip: Pick only the rooms that start with 300 (i.e. 304). The rest are smelly and some of them have no wi...
