“Only about 500m from the Taj and you can buy Taj tickets from the reception”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 2, 2012

I really love this place. Firstly, this hotel provided the best internet connection I've had throughout my trip in different cities in India. I don't know if it is because the WiFi modem is stuck to the wall right outside my room, but I was grateful to be able to update my whereabout for my parents who're always worried whenever I'm alone on the road.

The next best thing was that tickets to the Taj Mahal is available for sale at the hotel reception - no extra charges or fees apply other than the ticket charges and levy. No need to tediously back track half-a-click (500m) to Shilpgram for the tickets. Compared to Shilpgram, this hotel is only half the distance to Taj Mahal's west gate. The short walk was good exercise and also helps build up the excitement to see the Taj :) Despite the short distance, you'll still get touts trying to sell horse carriage rides etc., just keep walking...

The sunset view at the rooftop pool and dining area was also charming. You can even see the Taj Mahal from the rooftop before nightfall - though partly obstructed by trees. They have traditional music entertainment at the rooftop if you dine here at night. However, I prefer to eat in bright places, not to mention the freezing winter evening is really not suitable for alfresco dining.

Buffet dinner and breakfast in the restaurant on the reception level was simple but delicious, and they're got some of the most attentice wait crew I've encountered. I'll defintely stay here again..

We stayed there for only a night, tried to ask for the room in higher levels (which other travellers suggested) but no rooms were available, we could only choose the 1st floor (ground floor) or the basement. So, we picked the 1st floor, the room was decent, no view, but we didn't mind.

The shower and in-room wifi worked fine, but the bed sheet and pillows were dirty, got stains (blood stain, black stain, yellow stain), so, be prepared!

The roof top restaurant was closed (maybe too cold?), so we had dinner and breakfast on the indoor one (at the 1st floor). The food was quite good, service was good too!

This hotel is really close to Taj Mahal, we just walked there at sunrise and came back to the hotel for breakfast, try it!

Room Tip: Just avoid rooms at the basement.

We stayed at Taj Resorts during our second visit to Agra and found the hotel in many ways inadequate. In our opinion this is especially lamentable as India in general is a very hospital place with the vast majority of the people being extremely helpful towards visitors in most places.

Concerning the Taj Resorts in Agra the hotel belongs to the category of places which try to be posh but simply can't hold the standard they feel themselves belong to.

So when we arrived late at night the staff at the reception was cool and everybody stared at us how we struggled to carry our heavy luggage after a long day journey towards the lobby instead of helping us a bit. We got the feeling that as backpackers we weren't as welcomed as other guests.

Additionally, we found a perhaps 8 year old painted boy dressed up in traditional clothes starting to dance and sing for us like a marionette when we entered the lobby at night. When we asked the clerk at the reception if the boy shouldn't be at bed at this time or playing with the other kids outside instead of "greeting" guests, they just shrugged their shoulders.

The rooms itself are ok, while the room service is totally overpriced and although the staff at the restaurant in the morning went out of their way to make their guest feel comfortable, the quality and selection of the breakfast was of much lower quality than we found in many other, less costly, places.

When we tried to visit the Taj Mahal we found out that the ATM just around the corner didn't accept our credit cards why we asked if it would be possible for the hotel to charge our credit cards with a higher amound than the actual room price what was refused - again, we found this a very common way to "withdraw" money in many other places throughout India.

All in all we wouldn't recommend this hotel for anybody interested in a friendly service and value for money although the beds are comfortable and the showers hot.

Modern, clean, comfortable and good value. Ideal for a one night stay just to see the Taj Mahal.

The pool terrace is basic and there was heavy work going on behind it.

Ate dinner at the roof top restaurant and the food were very enjoyable. The staff will send out if you have a particular wine request.

Room Tip: We were on the ground floor and quite close to reception but there was no noise or disturbance at al...

We stayed here on 10 January 2012 the night before visiting the Taj Mahal. The rooms are quite nice, comfortable and clean, the bed was quite hard but we slept fine. The shower has no curtain or cubicle so water went everywhere, the toilet was dripping all night and there was a lot of noise but these were our only complaints (thank god for ear plugs!). The breakfast was mainly indian dishes but there was cereal and toast. The service was excellent and it was perfect for a 1 night stay, its in a great location, just round the corner from the Taj.

This hotel was exactly what I needed. It is within walking distance of the Taj Mahal. I ate dinner and breakfast and had an overall very good stay. I now have pictures I took of the Taj Mahal without any other people in the shot.

The rooms are nice and modern as is the rest of the hotel, the restaurant has a buffet breakfast every morning which was quite nice. Its maybe a 12-15 minute walk to the taj mahal which is really good. There was some construction on the pool deck when we stayed there and the room boys seemed a little forceful in looking for tips which were the only downside. I would recommend this hotel!!
