On arrival we were shown our room which was really nice with a private garden area. Lots of nice touches including mosquito coil and spray. Unfortunately after dinner when we went to go to bed we discovered the ac was not working and we were moved to another room which was smaller and not so nice. It was also quite a way from the main building. We weren't offered any compensation for this.

We went out with Sunil our guide to see sarus crane and he spotted many other birds and was very informative.
Next day we did the river trip which was wonderful. Sunhil took us birding first and he was amazing, finding lots of birds. The river trip is a must. We saw crocodiles, ghuriels, skimmers, the dolphin and a myriad of other bird life. We ate breakfast floating down the river which was so relaxing.
Sunhil also took us for an evening nature walk and after dinner showed us a civet cat.
Food was good especially the sweets. The chef explained each dish was so helpful.
If it hadn't been for the room change this would have been perfect. Try and get Sunhil to guide if you stay here, he will work his socks off to find exactly what you are looking for.

Room Tip: try for the bigger rooms, they are better kept

We decided to stay over here as we definitely wanted to do the river safari (and hopefuly see also the river dolphins) and we did !!

We arrived here around lunch time (it's one and a half hours drive from Agra), very good lunch, there was a mix up on the rooms we booked, but this got sorted out after some quick calls, we stayed in the imli serai cottages, recently built or renovated rooms, the room we initially got looked quite 'older' and was in need for a revamp.

We met during lunch our guide, Dushyant. We went out almost immediately after lunch, first going for the flying foxes on the property and then going on for the river safari (which starts about an half hour drive further on) on our way we saw already some great birdlife, thanks to our amazing guide !! The river safari itself is very rewarding, we saw gharials, indian skimmer, jungle cat, crocs, owls and were even lucky to see the river dolphins .. really great !

Once back in the lodge, a campfire was set, so time to enjoy a drink around it.. we did also a short evening walk and saw some civets..

We felt very sorry that we had to leave early morning back to Agra, if there was one place where we would have wanted to spend more time, it's over here !!

Despite some changeable weather I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Chambal. The river trip is well worthwhile and luckily it was sunny with clear skies.
On day two I opted for the Village walk which was wonderful. People invited me into their houses for tea and snacks and were so hospitable and friendly. The lodge owner and staff were always on hand and the service is excellent.
Our only complaint was the damp beds, but long spells of rain were blamed and the problem was quickly solved with a supply of hot water bottles day and night.
I would have stayed longer but I wasn't in charge of the itinerary. Top marks from me.

First impressions were that the main buildings looked a bit jaded but this was soon overwhelmed by the warmth of the welcome. The staff soon won us all over with great personal service and attention. The food was local, fresh and very good. Accommodation was set in the trees and we were surrounded by many varieties of birds. Rooms were nice with personal touches. It did get a bit cold in the evenings but this wasn't really a problem.

Fantastic, attractive, large room. Good food, 200 rupee beer (good compared to many other lodges in the country). Intermittent slow wifi (would be better if there was none!). Great grounds, filled with bats and birds and civets. Be careful of the main building's washroom -- it's where mosquitos go on vacation.
