“Pleasant 4 nights stay”
Reviewed May 27, 2012

I took my wife & daughter and stayed for 4 nights. Room is pretty clean and spacious and daily cleaning is being made on request. Truly we had a peaceful, calm stay & thoroughly enjoyed the trip. FOOD : Pls avoid esp. B/f as it is not being served fresh and require improvement. For dinner it is ok though slightly expensive. I strongly recommend.

Room Tip: All the cottages are peaceful & same space in nature. Dlx room is value for money

1. The hotel does not have any lake view from any part of the hotel ; not sure why it has been named the same.
2. Rooms are good and comfortable.
3. Adequate parking space.
4. The staffs are helpful and cooperative.
5. Food quality is good but they quality falls when there is a heavy rush. But considering there are no decent restaurants (with parking area) in Ooty it is better to stick to hotel food.

they need to be awarded for dirty and for the worst service hotel in world.Pls do not opt this hotel, you will sure land up in trouble and your whole trip will be ruined.

pls opt for the best hotels in ooty and not this 25 year old hotel which is still has the same old kindaa dirty rooms, dirty beds with bugs,80's TV,80's flask, cup, plates not cleaned properly and served.

As a whole its really a pathetic hotel never seen in my whole life.its a mallu owner of having 1980's style hotel.FYI its not a star category ..you will be happy if you stay even in HUT but not in this hotel.they fool you with old photos which is available in their website.

+ The best part of Hotel Lakeview is their rooms. They have nice spacious cottages. Each cottage has a living come dining area and a bedroom with queen sized bed. Furniture is old, recently repainted, and strictly functional. The living come dining area is roomy enough to easily accomodate another 2 adults with ease. All cottages are the same and you can take your car right to the doorstep to most of them. The rooms and bathrooms were neat and clean
+ They have a pretty big children's play area

Now for the pains:
- Service is hopeless. They have more than 100 cottages, and serving to all of them is not easy.
- Food quality is poor. And trust me I am very accommodating as far as food goes. Since there aren't any good eat outs nearby, the hotel enjoys a monopoly and doesn't care about the food at all. Off the three days we stayed there, we had breakfast only once. If you have a car, drive over to Ooty Coffee House near vegetable market. It's a simple place on the 1st and 2nd floor of the building, but serves authentic south indian food.
- You don't get tissue roll in the toilets!
- Main doors are weak, and lack a sense of security
- Lawns were not mowed
- View of the lake is more like a glimpse than a view.

All in all an excellent budget hotel.
I booked it directly, cuz we were three families with kids, and did not want to risk the booking with MakeMyTrip and the likes.

Room Tip: Rooms on lower side of the hill have more noise, but better view and better lawn.

It was back in 2006. So not really a relevant one. But still feel like sharing the nostalgia. It was good. The Road to Hotel was a bit steep but that is fine. The Cottages are really good even we were in the monsoon still it was not damp or unclean. Cleaning staffs are good. The cottages have fireplace in the living room and you can purchase wood to make it work. The Room Service is good we had most of our dinners at our cottage. But you have to give them some time though. The food is quite good. The campus is fairly secured one side overlooking the Ooty lake and the other has a very good green scenery. (can see my pictures)
The Hotel landscape is excellent. It is like Steps leading to the lake and on each step there are row of cottages.A little walk will take you to Ooty lake.15 min walk to Ooty Bus Stand.A must visit Dodabetta the highest peak of Nilgiris from where you can have a really excellent view of the valley. Overall a nice experience.

Room Tip: Take a cottage over viewing the Lake

We stayed for 2 nights, in the Deluxe suite.
The room was quite spacious for the couple stay and it was clean. I could see the one of the Side wall Dampened due to rain. The room was cold. No default room heaters, which makes difficult to walk bare foot in the room. Not sure about other type of available suites.
Food is not up to the mark, compared to the Hotel name.
All I can say is "A good budget hotel to stay only."

+ : location, Accessibility, Calm
- : Food, no room heaters

Stayed in R.No. 10.

Room Tip: the location if good, & calm, with no disturbances of the vehicles or any one. Avoid taking foo...

Merits:
1.Individual cottages.
2.Very peaceful.
3.Good vegetarian food.
4.near to town lake.
5.good service.

Demerits:
1.Old hotel
2.Doors and windows are little old(you will feel little insecure).
3.Very limited menu(both veg and non veg menu) and you cannot go out and have dinner in time if you don't have vehicle.

overall i can suggest you to stay with some exceptions.
