Nahar's Nilgiris Hotel
Reviewed December 4, 2009

We had a comfortable stay at Nahar. The restaurants were very good.Had quality food. The hotel location is ideally suited for sight seeing. The only issue was related to heater and hot water,We had a tough time when the room heaters were not flushing hot water and had to wait long time and were informed that the hot water is available only at certain times, that was an issue. The staff were very friendly and so too were the hotel management.Recommended

Good hotel with spacious rooms and the right price. It is very well located and is easily accessible. Best advised for people who are Vegetarians. Food is good and service is average. All in all a good value for money hotel.

We reached the hotel at about 11 am, after a long train journey from Chennai. We got down at Mettupalayam and reached hotel by bus, because Toy Train takes very long time to reach.

The hotel staff was good, and immediately gave us a room. The room was neat and clean.

This hotel is situated near market. Their food is really good.

Also you get dozens of food spots nearby which serves a variety of food stuff which is a treat for the taste buds!

Hotel Nahar is one of the best pricing and best ambience hotel in Ooty. The rooms are cozy with a nice warm carpet to make people comfortable. There is a fire place in the lobby where guests can make themselves warm when in need. A cup of tea would make a difference especially the Masala tea which is famous there. Of course, you get home made chocolates which are are mouth watering. Forget about the views as Ooty is becoming a bit crowded. Coonor is near by may be 20 kms, which is a nice place to visit which is famous for Sleeping lady view point, Dolphin dive, etc...

From: A.R.Ramaswamy,Mumbai, India
As a whole family of 4 of us stayed in this hotel from 23rd May to 27th May 2009.
It was a family vacation/annual holidays.
About the hotel-
Neat , clean and courteous staff.
Booking thro web site and email-though they did ask for advance amount, once it was done, the reservation process was smooth, prompt.and perfect.
Check in was smooth , quick and very professional.
room was ok, neat and claen. good house keeping. except the bath whare leakage of water in bath, all other areas were excellent. TV worked, no poiwer cuts, hotel used probably a gen sent.
Room service was was prompt and good.
Best part is-ther restaurants-Indian veg food was very tastey especailly south indian food , and breakfast, lunch.
In season it was crowded in restaurant but quick service with friendly waiters solved the waiting time.
Car paring-space is available and hotelk travel desk arrnages for sight seeing trip.
I would suggest not to take their bus service , as the bus is out sourced probably and it is rickety. Better to take a car from travel desk.It will be recommended to stay here, as this hotel is in the center of the town, in commercial area, reachable to all places, shopping is near by, and cost benefit is good. Economically room, food are worth here. added is the friendly atmosphere.

On these rare business that one can have it on the hills, we drove into the hill station from Bangalore after a rather hectic drive which ended straight into the middle of the hill station market at the hotel.
We took the room at the heritage wing which is wonderfully done with wonderful carpets and compact furniture to keep the holiday marker full of energy. The hotel gives a view of the city market which has most tourists walking all around. A wonderful glimpse of the morning mist also awaits if we want to experience it in the central courtyard which has couple of other wings too! The bathrooms are general standard with average cleanliness but not very impressive.
The food is good and is generally served pimping hot. Both the Chinese and the Indian fare are good and perhaps one of the best that you can get in this hill town!
