Too crowded. not advisable for elderly people to take a walk to. Even the washrooms in the public places are most pathetic and not advisable to visit

The gardens are situated in the heart of Ooty. Formidable long queues envelop the entrance like a rioting mob at most times of day, so get there early (before 9am) for the best experience before the coach groups arrive. The walk around is absolutely beautiful with benches to sit on and fields, a map of India made out of various types of plants on a slope, a cannon, and it's easy to miss the staircase upto the oak trees at the top, so go up there. You're not allowed to take photographs of the Raj Bhavan, the summer house of the governer of Tamil Nadu. Wide variety of ponds and plants. A lot of walking up staircases and an extensive area, make time for it. Problem for foreigners: people keep coming up to ask if they can take photographs with you, apparently it's for good luck. You can do it if you want to be used, but frankly I feel that it's impolite and it is a hindrance to your enjoyment. Dirty bathrooms. Lovely climate and friendly people around, Please wait to go to the bathroom somewhere else. It's festering over there. The gardens are a lovely place to spend a morning. Some bits are roped off-a shame but a benefit to the plants that live there.

A place to visit while in Ootty. A point of special interest is to visit up-hill where the traditional natives stay (just a few families reside there now in their traditional huts). Also a point of interest at this place is the native's worship hut still preserved the way it was in the begining.

Wide variety of tress and saplings with fresh flowers all around. The maintenance by its staff is regular and available all the time. Just remember not to pick or pluck any flowers by mistake or else you will be heavily fined.
