“not to miss!!”
Reviewed May 27, 2013

Kids loved this drive in a SUV inside the forest. The walk to the lake is an experience in itself. loved the scenaray. on the way back a fallen tree blocked the road.. private vehicles are not allowed inside and the forest department have 2 hour tours at 9.00 am, 11.00 am, 1.00 pm and 3.00 pm @ Rs.150 per person. Take packed food as nothing is available except for some soft drinks, biscuits.

“hidden gems of ooty”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

its 20 km from ooty . On reaching the entrance , private vehicles are not allowed inside .we have to buy tickets . its 150 rupees per adult which include vehicle charge.they accommodate 8 members in jeep (tavera, sumo etc) and 20 in a mini van. It’s a 7km drive thru’ thick forest to a dam. On the way they stop at two spots . one for a view and the next at the spring where river bhavani originates. The roads are good. Though there is a small canteen its advisable to take packed lunch. The best time is 1st batch or the final batch of the vehicle as animals may be sighted. Timing 8am to 3.00pm. though the board mentions only 10 vehicles per day. They have contract for 10 vehicles which goes to-fro all thru’ the day.

“Very good scenic location”
Reviewed May 4, 2013

Must see. Very nice scenic location. I heard it is recently open for tourists, hence it is not polluted and looks clean and natural as compared to other places in Ooty. The ride to the location is also awesome.

“A real escape from the world”
Reviewed April 22, 2013

One of the very few peaceful places left around Ooty. Its a really dense forest. we saw a herd of Bisons here. I think, we had to take permission from TN Forest Dept. a day earlier to visit this place - I can't remember exactly.

Definitely worth visiting for nature lovers. Some may find the silence threatening. Virgin natural beauty, mostly untouched by humans. The road that takes you there is really horrible.

This is one place where one can absolutely cut off from the din & noise of the world. A real getaway, in every sense of the word.

“Wonderful jungle suffari”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

The place is on the way to Upper Bhavani, just past Emerald lake/dam. The 2 hour trip into the jungle to Bhavani reveals many of nature's amazing creations. The grass lands and the Avalanche lake are breathtaking views. Better reach there by 9, it takes around 1.5 hours from Ooty as the road is not good. The road passes through beautiful hills and valleys with tea plantations / fields with carrot, cabbage, potato. The negatives, you can not see the lake without taking the forest ride. The forest officials- driver/guide of the forest department vehicle (as can be expected) were not at all friendly. There are some private vehicles hired by forest department to take visitors to forest.
