“A Must Visit for Nature Lovers ”
Review of Upper Bhavani Lake

I visited this place after a recommendation from the helpdesk at Sterling Fernhill Resort and i must say it was totally worth it. It's a government undertaken Eco Tour at Avalanche.

No words to describe the experience as it was unforgettable and will cherish the memories. The weather was quite chilly and wet as it's monsoon season, yet it was crazy van ride with waterfalls and majestic views of the upper bhavani reservoir. Though the views were hindered by the damn fog once in a while.

A must visit place other than the usual crowded sightseeing places otherwise.

Wooooow it's the apt word describing upper Bavani. We need special permission to stay near the upper bhavani dam. The place is situated within a forest full of wild animals.. In 2 days me and my pals stayed there we enjoyed awesome weather, almost 24 x 7 rain / drizzle , saw a leopard, lots of deers, bisons, wild dogs , rabbits and lots of monkeys etc. for nature lovers it's a place to go.
the only minus point is there is absolutely no signal for making mobile phone calls . Only if weather is clear we get one signal bar of aircel, water is a problem i.e drinking water we have to take stock and go.

Must visit, the place is extremely beautiful. Please take care to reach there at 9am, and try and get the first few forest vans, this would ensure that you dont waste time waiting for the forest van and also there will be less rush at the lake.

The lake water level was really low in June, and the time allocated is just 30 mins which is not enough for going down on the banks, never the less the location is beautiful and it felt exotic especially in june with fog + drizzle + wind....
Plan properly & you will witness one of the most beautiful place in Ooty(undoubtedly)

it is best attraction in ooty.. it is not in the ooty town.. need to travel atleast 30km from ooty, the google maps had shown a way to reach the spot, but it was through a narrow non-tarred road, there is a decent tarred road to this place, but the google showed another road...

superb place... if u are planning to go to this place, be aware that you are spending a whole day for this.. but its much worthy than other ooty attractions such as botanical garden, lake and all... enjoyed alot with my family... no food available..

It is one among the best places i have ever visited. Avalanche is about 27 KM from the City center. From there, Forest Department offers an Eco-Tourism service to visit the upper bhavani back waters. The provide two modes of transportation. They have a big Swaraj Mazda van (Rs.130/ticket) and jeep service (Rs. 1200/6 persons). Distance of 20 KM (10 KM up and down) will be covered in 2 hours drive inside the dense forest. Roads are rugged and narrow. Some areas they drive by the cliff of the hill. Places are scenic all the way. They do stop at 2 or 3 three places in between for some view points. There is an old temple for goddess Bhavani on the way. Renovation process is going on now. Finally, we reach Lakkidi, a place where upper bhavani back waters can be seen. After a walk for about half a KM we can see a waterfalls and a serene view of upper bhavani back waters. It is a must visit place for all the tourists of Ooty.
