Superb scenery... This place is not to be missed if you go to ooty.
Reach early by 9:30 to this place. You will get the tickets for the first bus.
Avalanche is nothing but the backwaters of Upper Bhavani Lake.
You can reach to the backwater only by the forest dept. vehicle.

“Magical”
Reviewed May 12, 2014

We visited this place in early May 2014. This place is one of the view points of the forest safari. It is one of the most beautiful places near ooty, so make sure not to miss this place when you visit ooty. Also called Lakkidi it is the backwaters of the Upper Bhavani Dam. The eco-tourism van goes till this point which is also the last motorable point of the forest. The van stops some distance and you will be given about 20 min or so to walk till the waters and come back. We saw footprints of a panther that had come to the lake to drink water in the morning. Assured that you will return only on the threat of missing your van !!!! The forest safari starts at 10.30 am. If you want to avoid the crowds, go for the first trip of the day. The safari lasts for about 2 hours. Chances of seeing wild animals are very less, so you can go for the safari for the scenic views. There are no eating places around, so carry food/snacks with you.

“Serene place!!”
Reviewed May 3, 2014 via mobile

Very beautiful place !! You can visit this place by going via eco tourism organized by forest department . Be early to beat the crowd around 9.30 - 10.00 . You need to take a ticket at the forest entry. No private vehicles allowed. There are 2 types of ticket one for going in 12 seater (150 pax) or a jeep (1200 for 8 ppl).

Place is very beautiful. Very thick forest en route!!

“Must visit place if you go to ooty.”
Reviewed April 30, 2014

The place is amazing. Its actually the backwater of Upper Bhawani Dam. The difficult part is reaching this place. Private vehicles are not allowed and hence you have to rely on govt Eco-tours. First you will need to reach a checkpost which is around 25kms from ooty. There you have to give your name and wait until they call out your name. Then you will get tickets which cost 150 per person and again you will ride for about an hour to reach this place. But all this is worth it.
