“Good Option for families”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 3, 2014

I would have given a rating of 3.5 stars but didnt have the option. We stayed in a cottage (107) for 4 nights. 3 adults and 2 children. 1 living room with a 20 inches philips tv with all important channels. Two bedrooms. Wooden floor in both the bed rooms. Bathrooms were quite big and had water heaters. Wash basins were inside the bathroom and we found it very difficult to get inside the bathroom to wash our hands.

They have a kitchen in the hotel. Veggies are very limited. They serve Chappathi, panner butter masala and mixed veg curry, rice and dhall in the nights. Bread toasts in the morning. 1 day to o they serverd idlis, pongal and vadai for breakfast. The taste of all the dishes were excellent. Thanks to the chef. No complimentary breakfast policy.

They arrange for Sight seeing, but the quote provided by Sun park was slightly (200 - 400 rs) higher than other hotels/resorts.

You can go by walk to Botanical garden. It will hardly take 15 to 20 mins. Commerical road is 10 mins away from the hotel.

The managers and the staff were very courteous, really helpful and prompt in providing the service.

Suggestion: No interiors in the cottages plan some interiors which are very similar to Standard and classic rooms this will make our stay more enjoyable, Need to have 1 wash basin in the living room, someone should come and clean the room daily at least once, the flasks kept inside the room are not very clean.

Room Tip: We stayed in a cottage 107. It had 1 living room with a 20 inches philips tv. Two bedrooms. In 1 bed...

It still beats me how this hotel is rated so high, I doubt if the people reviewing it excellent have ever been to a hotel.
I have absolutely no Pros for this hotel / B&B whatever it is only cons..so here they are

1)First and foremost, the positioning on google maps is wrong. We went around in circles around the Charring cross area for almost an hour before we found this place. Even the local people were clueless about the hotel whereabouts.
2)last 200-300 mtrs of approach road is "Terrible". We had gone in june, and it had rained the previous night and the entire stretch was filled with water. Its a dingy narrow lane and you cannot go out for a walk to anywhere.
3. Given the fact that you can't go nowhere close by walking to grab a snack, you would rather fast than eat the food made in the kitchen (mind you it does not have a restaurant) So if you have taken the fateful decision of staying here, you better fill up your tummies before you land here at night. The food service is excruciatingly slow and the food served was cold.
4. There was no place for our driver to sleep, the one offered was a 5x6 ft room with 4 slabs for the drivers to sleep with no door. Even the driver refused to sleep there.
5. The reception area is a makeshift bedroom of the caretaker / manager.
6. I wonder what views people talk about from this hotel, all you see is plethora of slum equivalent dwellings in the front of the hotel.
7. Cold rooms, no heating provision, poor blankets, soggy mattress, small TV (not the LCD shown in pics)...list is endless. Pics are so so deceptive

Checked in the hotel at night and checked out the very next day evening. It was a terrible mistake.

Room Tip: None, but if you have decided to stay here take the ones facing the garden, if that is going to make...

We stayed here for two nights. Very clean rooms, room service is prompt. The chef/cook comes at fixed times and you have to place your order in advance. The food is much better than the restaurants nearby where you have to wait for getting a seat! Market is walking distance. The approach is through residential area, but that is not a problem.

The gardens are well maintained and kids enjoyed playing.

Room Tip: If you like to sit out in the garden to have breakfast, choose the front ground floor rooms. If you...

I stayed in this hotel for four complete days and I am really happy with the hospitality of the hotel staff and specially their behavior towards the visitors. The rooms are really good and I had a comfortable stay with my wife without any problem or inconvenience. SInce, it was chilling cold in Ooty, so based on request, the hotel staff also served hot drinking water and tea/coffee with reasonable charges. I would love to visit Ooty again and would like to stay in Sun Park for having a pleasant hospitality again!!!

Room Tip: Go for Deluxe Room..These rooms have nominal cost and have all the basic amenities in good condition...

After reading all good reviews, I selected this hotel for my stay in Ooty. I was impressed by the pictures on the site and was really excited to experience a nice stay in this hotel. But perhaps I expected too much, as our stay in this hotel turned out to be utter disappointment.

This hotel is like a small bungalow with several rooms and I should admit that it is very beautifully built, especially the outer side with green and white color combination. It also has a very good looking lawn with flowers all around and few benches to sit and enjoy the nature. The front views from the hotel are very nice with clouds floating on the hill tops and pine trees. This makes it a very good bungalow, but is it enough for a good hotel ? No...

Most of the reviews about this hotel are just highlighting the positives (good view, nice lawn) and thus not giving the true picture of this hotel. Let me try to reveal some more facts -

1. Badly located: The biggest shortcoming of this hotel is its location. Its located way inside a residential colony about 300 mts from the main road. Dont go by the google map, its location is shown incorrect there. A narrow and a very dirty road leads to the hotel. The road is full of cow dungs, plastic covers, pot holes and stinking drains. Some unused cars/ vans are always parked on the roads and some cows always moving on the roads, making it more difficult to walk on the road. During evening time, there are no streetlights so it becomes very difficult to walk. There is not a single shop near the hotel. So to buy anything, even a packet of biscuit you need to walk at least 500 m. And believe me, this 500m feels like 1500m on hilly roads.

2. No restaurant: This hotel doesnt have any restaurant. It has a small kitchen though and they prepare few selected items on order. But that is also awful. Nothing to talk about. No breakfast and snacks option. And hotel is also least bothered about this. First night only they asked for the dinner order, after that they didnt even care. Perhaps they are confident that nobody would have guts to try their food again after having once.

3. Poor service - The service is the poorest I have experienced till now. They didnt keep towels, hand soaps in the rooms when I first checked-in. Only on calling, they provided these. The trash was not cleared. Even for drinking water also, we had to call them every time. Once after room cleaning, they took away all the towels and didnt replace those. We have to remind them for keeping the towels back. On second day, we had to wait for 1 hour outside to get our room cleaned. Actually it felt like hotel believes in keeping the guests on their own by not disturbing them by offering any service. Could be some management funda, which I dont understand.

4. Very ordinary room - The room was very ordinary. The pics on Internet are not giving the true image of the double deluxe room. The pics are showing LCD TV, whereas its just a normal 21 in CRT TV with local cable connection (very bad picture quality). The room doesnt have any fan. I agree it is not required most of the time, but what's wrong in keeping it, someone might need it. The linens provided are of bad quality. Under the blanket they provided a single bedsheet for a double bed. The bed cover used to come out after sleeping for just 10 minutes.

Coming to the worst thing in the room - The toilet has a big wide window with full glass panes. The curtains on the windows are not able to fully cover the window panes. So some part of the window is always uncovered. So beware while bathing. I dont understand, which great architecture has prepared this design for bathroom. Why do you need such a big window in there ?? - To enjoy the nature while passing your bowels or to let others see you while you are bathing ...

Overall I was little dissapointed with this hotel and I rue over my decision to stay here. I should have considered other options.

This hotel might be good for people who just want a good looking hotel with lawn, wants to enjoy the views from the hotel and dont want any other services. But for people who wants more, better look for other options.

Room Tip: Double deluxe rooms are located on the front side and thus having nice views
