Sabol Holiday Resorts

Its really a fantastic experience staying at Sabol Holidays,Ooty. The scenic view of the cottages present on the slopes provide fresh air and the beauty of the mountains and valleys were awesome. The rooms were clean and tidy with all the basic amenities fulfilled. The co-operation of the staff and their on time service was excellent. It was a pleasant trip and stay which made myself and my family to enjoy "Sabol" as well as "The Queen of Hill Stations".

Stayed at the property for a 2nights / 3 days. Was allotted room # B-2 - Kingfisher. The rooms are spacious, great view of the valley, good grass lawn in front, very good for the kids if its not raining. Very quite place, accessible only if you have your own vehicle. Great property. Great glass paneled restaurant, but was never open during our stay.

Now the bad news - it has the worst staff ever seen in a hotel, even during off-season. When we reached around 2:45pm we were greeted only by the security guard at the reception desk. The manager took 20 - 25 mins to come from his quarter and was not happy to see guests disturbing his afternoon siesta.

Food has to be ordered 1.30 hours prior, which is ok with lunch and dinner, but how can you order pakodas or tea 2 hours prior to having it?? They will not give any satchets in the room.

Chicken curry, chicken chettinad and mushroom masala all taste the same and that is how it should be is what the "chef" said!!!

3rd morning we were greeted with "reddish brown" water, did not take bath, not even the kid. Lucky we left that day in the morning.

Overall, stay here only for the view, bring your own food or an induction cooker, get your stuff and cook yourself (they have a kitchen in the cottages). Preferably get wet in the rain so that you dont have to take a bath (on days when the water turns red).

Good idea behind the hotel, poor execution!!!

Room Tip: Go with family, get double room cottages. B2,3,4

I got this Hotel booked thru my Travel Agent as we visited Ooty in June -2011.
We Booked 2 Delux Cottages.

The scenic view from Hotel is good (Which I think , will be all the resorts) but other than that there is nothing which needs to be mentioned.

First of this resort is very far from the main marker(approx 5km's).
Without your own vehicle its difficult to commute as it is located in a lonely place.

Secondly Staff is not cooperative at all.

We were told to have lunch ordered and completed by 8:00 PM also they do not serve break fast before 8:45 AM if u wish to early check-out.

Rooms are small and ok.

They also charge for Room heaters (Defalut they won't give) ,300 Rs per heater.

Food is OK but Service is very slow.

They don't offer any freebies(ie. Milk powder/Sugar/coffe)

In short is not true value for Money.

Better u check out , Holiday Inn, Monarch and Others

This is a good hotel in a great location with fantastic view from the rooms. The cottages are roomy with clean bathrooms. But the hotel really needs to improve the food quality and it is seriously under-staffed so the service is really bad. If you are just planning to stay in the hotel in the evenings and go out sightseeing full day then it is a decent enough place to stay. But if you are a foodie and need good food to njoy your vacation then please avoid the place.......

An independent cottage with a living room, a kitchenette, a sprawling bathroom and a huge bedroom with plush fittings and modern interiors, ample storage in cupboards, a bug LCD TV, and a view of the slopes and the terraced farms, is what Sabol is to me. We stayed there for two nights and it was a great experience. Away from the din of the Ooty town, this place is tucked away in Pudumund, a small locality 8 kms from the downtown. There are four levels of cottages on the slope, and every cottage provides clean and fresh air and a breathtaking view of the slopes. The properly insulated rooms were cosy with wooden floors and clean linen, though we were out whole days and could not make use the living room much.

The only negative was the service--it was really pathetic. We ordered lunch and were told it will take one and a half hours. Calling them again an hour later resulted in a request for another hour, at which we cancelled the order and went out. The kitchenette had an electric kettle for making tea but I got water for that in half an hour, only after I called them thrice. The breakfast was good though, and in time, in an all-glass restaurant.

Save the service, the stay was very good for the price. A very good deal, might stay here again the next time I visit Ooty. Only if they could improve the service a bit. Listening Sabol?

Service is hopeless... very understaffed. Resteraunt is full of flies. Had water problem on both days that we stayed. No hot water.. Children had to bath with cold water. I would never go back to this place and not recommend this to anyone.

Room Tip: Never go to this place... will ruin your holidays

Nice place to stay , away from crowd. Excellent ambience. Staff is good and helpful. Wonderful place if going with family. Food is horrible, i had a very bad experience. Break fast is very good, lot of variety. People who like strong tea, Don't try during buffet breakfast. It is better to take milk or coffee. As it is new property so still lot work is pending.

Overall it is nice place and must visit.
