very worst hotel .i hav booked for maruthi cottages with clear trip but when i have arrived there they told me rooms are not available.. worst experience ..they provided another hotel which is very bad
- Free Wifi
- Free Parking
I had booked the double occupancy room, and when we reach there all double occupancy room were not available, they allotted us a cottage. we were satisfied ,stayed for 3 days enjoyed.
The rooms were clean but they could have kept it still more clean. the hotel was near to all visiting places, we din find any difficulty . It would have been still better if they had put room freshener. We can enjoy sitting in Balcony also.
I can't speak for the cottages, as I booked one of the rooms. It was not ANYTHING like what is described. The room was small, dark and dirty. The door to the room goes directly outside (not to a hallway) and had a big hole in the bottom like something had chewed it's way in. There was also a huge gap between the door and the frame, which let in a lot of cold air. The lock was flimsy, the linen was dirty, there was no toilet paper or towels.
Although we had fully paid for 2 nights in advance, we left and found more suitable accommodation.
I booked this hotel based on reviews but was not satisfied with the services of the hotel. We stayed for two days.
On reaching the hotel, we were accommodated into the hotel next door, without giving any justification to us. There was no Restaurant, tea made available was pathetic. Bathroom did not have towels, soap etc, Big CRT TV hanging on wall left us with cramped necks in small room, cable tv quality was bad. good enough hot water was available only at 8 am ( that too when my father went to reception and woke the staff at 7 am. ( reception phone was lifted off position).
Next day morning again, when we were boarded vehicle for sightseeing they( maruthi cottage people) told us to shift back to maruthi cottage suddenly, we had to come back by 12 PM to shift.
On coming back and shifting the luggage they told rooms are not ready yet. wait for half an hour. These two rooms in Maruthi were better ( which we had booked for)
Had to ask for towel and soap.
Cable was not working , had to get it corrected.
Phone in one of the room was not working, when i told reception guy, he said ok (no action taken).
The table chair in room wer in bad shape. room was looking single coating painted.
When going back for bangalore next day, no staff helped us with luggage even on requesting for the same.
Overall - staff was courteous, but full of mismanagement, Rooms not good enough
Not a great stay.
After reading all reviews I decided to choose this resort as we needed Kitchen for home cooked food.one day stay was nice.I called one day before and asked for availability, did reservation on call.
next day we reached and since two bed room cottage wasn't available we were given two single rooms for two hours which was in terrible condition.
Thank god we got our allotted rooms at first floor.View from balcony was awesome.
nice spacious rooms,two bathrooms,kitchen,dining room.
But rooms are old and lack cleanliness.Hot water wasn't available, water was luke warm which was not of any use.Tea was overpriced!
Staff was very courteous and helping. Most of recent reviews about this resort are correct.
This place is centrally located in Ooty.Overall a good stay.
We booked a 1 bedroom cottage at Maruthi Cottages for a couple of weeks on our first trip to India. We were given a spacious two bedroom apartment that overlooked the town and was only a short walk to the center of Ooty.
On the plus side, the location was convenient to restaurants, banks, and other key locations in town. The unit was certainly roomy enough for the two of us, had a good cable TV with English channels, and there was a lovely balcony that we could use in the early morning. The owner, Mr. Ravi was accommodating and provided us with a hot plate to heat coffee in the morning.
The negatives were substantial and largely outweighed the positives. The greatest deficit was the lack of cleanliness - the unit was filthy dirty and not up to Western standards. The entire unit needed a good cleaning and the walls were badly in need of paint. The kitchen had no utensils, no microwave, and the small refrigerator was disgustingly dirty. The biggest drawback to the place was the lack of hot water for most off our stay. There was no electric unit for the shower and the solar hot water unit worked very sporadically and often produced a gush of brown orange liquid - yuck! We could never depend on taking a shower and would just try our luck - hoping the shower gods would smile upon us. The power was often undependable but this was common in Ooty and caused by the lack of supply rather than the hotel, however, other places had backup generators not in evidence at Maruthi.
The place is just tired - with flimsy towels, ripped bed sheets, dirty walls and floors and just an air of neglect. That being said, we settled in for our two week stay and enjoyed the space but we were glad to leave. The place needs to be upgraded considerably if they expect to attract Western guests.
