Due to the commercialization and hustle bustle of Ooty, any place about 20km away from it is exceptionally serene. The red hills nature resort is a dramatically beautiful place to stay located amidst sheer greenery. It's a beautiful gabled house overlooking the Emarald lake from the top of a hillock surrounded by a lush green tea garden.

For a garden lover, the veggies that they cook come from their small organic farm, from which is really worth a look at.
When we went the owner herself had cooked the food, and it was absolutely light and delicious.

I can not forget the doggies, the extremely friendly German shepherd 'Moby' who will tirelessly play fetch for a whole day and will never refuse a cuddle and adorable puppy 'Apple' which would always interrupt Moby in his game.

Moby showed us along the tea estate early in the morning when we got to see the breathtaking sight of the lake that spreads amidst the hills during sunrise.

The owners are very friendly and may also arrange for fishing or guides for trekking. We ourselves drove down to the foot if the hill to see the small cascade and the clear bluewater of emarald lake at the foot of the hill. The best thing to do at red hills would be to stroll around or trek and enjoy the exceptional view by just drawing your curtains. This resort has the best view of all the resorts located in the place.

We went in October and it was pretty chilly, do take some warm clothing.

Being a bird maniac and an absolute nature lover, the trip was paradise, I would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: They have temple garden rooms, mountain villa rooms and lake view rooms. The mountain villa room is...

I escaped the 34 degrees C of Bangalore with my wife Roopal and a bunch of friends and arrived at Red Hill. And we were left shivering most part of the day and the night with a bonfire to keep us warm. THAT was surreal! It actually felt like winter with around 13 degrees Celsius in the nights.

The property is simply awesome with an old world charm obviously since it seems it was built by the British sometime in the late 1800s. Our cottages overlooked the tea estate, the hills and the Emerald lake in the distance. Great rooms, luxurious giant shower and bathtub. AND a fireplace!

Food, as my wife would say was - strictly oooookkkkaay.

The best part - A big brown German Shepherd and a tiny black German Shepherd for company.

Room Tip: At the height of summer, this place was freezing. So carry warm clothes, please

Great location, this beautiful 9 room resort very scenic view from every angle, surrounded by hills, tea gardens, overlooking the water body. Very efficient management, service what you want it to be. Great food! Lovely drive, it's around 30 km from Ooty to Avalanche. Overall great treat to all senses if you like nature and peace.

The resort is very nice and appreciate the fact that the owners take personal interest in running it properly. They r extremely customer friendly. I booked 3 rooms and i had to cancel the 2 rooms because of a personal problem. The owners were ok to refund me the money if required.

Food was brilliant - good to go with kids. the bungalows r beautiful though the toilets could have been better. Not all the taps r working but its spacious.

the location is nice and in the plantations - approach road is rugged, but that adds to the experience.

The location is ideal to be away from maddening crowds, pollution, noise, etc. etc.
The views are awesome and folks terrific. the hosts are very cordial and meet requests with a smile. the staff are very courteous. the activities are nice but not suitable for small children.
the dogs moby and tulip are awesome. Moby is ever playful and keeps kids engaged.
the road is motorable and is part of the experience.

Be here for the location! Located just 20 km above ooty, is this brilliant resort. It has exceptional views of the lake, a quiet & peaceful place. The rooms are neat, spacious & descent. Although i would rate the food good, it is the best you can get & expect in a remote place. The Hospitality would be rated good.
The Birds, Flowers, Magnificent Mountains, Beautiful Lake, The Sunrise Wow!!!
Switch off ur Phones & enjoy the Nature.
Overall 4/5

Room Tip: Lake view rooms are great!!!

Excellent location, Amazing property, helpful staff and wonderful hosts!!!
The only thing that can improve is food.
This is one of the only 2 options you have, if you wish stay in Avalanche/Emerald.
This part of nilgiris is very less explored and is at it's natural best. Early mornings are most beautiful.
Best place to stay if you wish to visit Emerald, Avalanche, Upper Bhavani, Porthimund, Mukurthi, Parson's valley.
Vijay, the host, is packed with information and can surely help you with treks or trips around.
Way to reach this place is horrible, but the pain fades away once you reach the place.
Dont forget to ask for a stay in tents, when the property is fully booked.
