Excellent property to be on, well maintained heritage banglow , been there with the family for a week almost all rooms taken-up that gave complete property for us to be in. Good food, good friendly staff. Nice place to be in cozy and comfortable. Little improvement in the service part is called for. Beautiful....

The suites feel like you have your own little house nestled high above the hustle and bustle. The rooms are spacious and clean.

The food is delicious. The service is not all that quick, but it is quick for India.

There is a garden view from the sunroom which is delightful.

I went to Fern hill Palace first and inspected the rooms. In my opinion, lymond house is so much better. Sure it doesn't have the polish of the palace, but lymond house has 10 times the soul.

Stay here, it's wonderful.

This was just what we were looking for! An old colonial house in a lovely garden.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay for three nights. The room was old style but comfortable. We were next to a lounge room where we sat in front of a fire for dinner on two nights. Breakfast was in a conservatory where the morning sun shone in. The hotel is well located to the sights too.

The manager and staff provided excellent service. Overall, we had a great time. Our only hitch was the limited menu when we were there. I am not sure exactly why something about a transport strike?

If you are looking for something small scale and charming, this is the place to stay! YMMV

Went with friends for a quiet dinner last night at Lymond House. The dining room felt like we had stepped back in time to a British home during the time of the Raj. Looking out through the huge glass windows at the artfully lit trees, shrubs and lawn, made us really appreciate the cosy atmosphere that we were sitting in. They had even provided a space heater! Of course, what made it really worthwhile was the delicious food. I had their house speciality, mutton crumb chop which is a classic Raj dish. My friends had really good pizza and my husband had Indian vegetarian food. All of it was excellent. I would suggest trying their continental food.

Just make sure that you call ahead and order your food. They are not a like a regular restaurant so giving them some notice helps them pull out the stops and whip up some great food. I had also requested a good salad and they came up with a lovely green salad with arugula and fresh vegetables. The dressing was really good. Looking for a great meal and amazing ambience ? Lymond House is the place to go.

We stayed here for two nights as part of a birdwatching trip. Its a little oasis of quiet from the bustle of Ooty. Its a lovely 'Colonial' residence, teak floors wooden panels and Big Fireplaces, Lots of character. Staff were friendly. Food was delicious, Bed was comfortable. Log fires lit in the evenings for us were much appreciated and enjoyed. The garden is a joy with various areas for sitting and enjoying birds and butterflies and flowers and shrubs . Would definitely recommend.

Really beautiful house where you can imagine yourself back in the times of the Raj. Large airy rooms, comfy beds and gorgeous place - wood panelled rooms, wide beamed floorboards, antique furniture .... Stacks of character. When the temperature drops low in the evening then the staff light the roaring fires (including the one in your own room's fireplace if you ask). Friendly staff, tasty (but a little expensive) food.
However the garden is stunning - wonderful layout, lovely trees-bushes-flowers, pretty birds everywhere.
If you can treat yourself to a special night or 2 in Ootty then stay at this place

Room Tip: Garden room suite

We stayed here for 2 nights in January 2013. There are only 6 or so rooms, each with their own cozy feel and with fire places. Anita the manager is a knowledgeable and helpful and runs a tight ship. Joe and Josie offer immaculate service.

The best part of our stay was the tour of the surrounding countryside by Torthas, a member of the Toda tribe. Highly recommended!

But have rupees ready, the USD exchange at the hotel is not the best.
