It is centrally located and walk able distance from most land marks like Bus Terminal, Train Station, Meenakshi Temple etc.The reception lounge and interiors are tastefully decorated with a heavy dose of ethnic flavor. The staff are very courteous but more comfortable in speaking Tamil causing a bit of discomfort to people from other regions. The complementary breakfast is entirely a south Indian delight with very limited variations, but very tasty nevertheless.
The rooms are well furnished. The treatment is Royal on the first day of arrival. But if you happen to stay longer, the "House Keeping" quality deteriorates. Probably a case of familiarity breeding disregard. Towels may remain unchanged, glasses not washed and toilet not cleaned.
But if you overlook that, then this place is real value for money.

For Rs 2000 + Taxes, Madurai residency provides very clean, very neat, very well air-conditioned, very well located (near the station, busstand, market and temple) double-occupancy rooms including morning wonderful south indian breakfast. In addition, they provide 1L water, 2 brushes, tooth-paste, soaps, oil, shampoo, conditioner, towels, news paper, shaving razor, shower cover, etc. Morning breakfast was awesome with coffee, tea, idly, dosa, pongal, halwa/pudding, bread sandwich, omlet, fresh juice, fruit salads, kichdi, sambar, chutney, etc. They ensure power availability 24 hours, despite utility power outages for more than 8 hours everyday. I stayed for 3 nights with my family and very satisfied with what they'd offered us.

Room Tip: When you book for double occupancy, prefer the room with the double bed instead of two single beds...

I stayed there with my mother and two children, so we booked a suite to accommodate me and the children in one bed and my mother in another. The main bedroom was comfortable, with a western style toilet (Indian style bathroom overall), very comfortable bed and plenty of space. The area where my mother slept near the door was dark and poky, quite odd in design, but did feature a second bathroom (with squat toilet). Overall, the room was comfortable and in line with expectations, aside from some further attention needed as the room had apparently been prepared in haste (see below).

The location is great, close to Meenakshi Temple, and with plenty of places to eat nearby. There is a rooftop bar which has good views, although we only visited it during the day when not open. Location is very handy for reaching other places and attractions.

Breakfast was included, and had a reasonable range, but was very crowded (my family was unable to get a table even for two people to eat alone, and so shared with others) - getting there early would no doubt avoid this though. We used the room service, and were very happy with both the menu, food and service. One thing that was great about the room service menu was that there was some reference to food safety, which provided assurance and allowed the kids to have a few dishes they'd had to avoid in most other places we visited.

There were some internet terminals in the lobby, and the lobby in general was very pleasant.

This hotel has 24 hour check in/check out, which may be beneficial for some, but for us was a problem, as arriving at 4pm we found that our room was still not available and so we had to wait. Not a problem if you were leaving late in the day and so could take advantage of checking out at 5pm, but was purely a negative for us as leaving early in the morning.

An irresistible combo overall! An efficient comfortable place close to all the sights & sounds you want to experience in Madurai. But not the only one in the block by any means! A sizeable breakfast and other meals should you so choose. Great AC rooms, beds and super bathroom - a little splashy like many. Very efficient front desk, although attitude is lukewarm. BUT who cares! It delivers all you need, and a super rooftop to take sunset pics. Thoroughly recommended!

We went there end of December.
The rooms were nice. The location amazing close to the main temple.
The restaurant service was very slow and can say poor.
The breakfast was fine and predominantly south indian.
Great for location and cleanliness and budget!

The best thing about this hotel is it's location. It is in the center and close to the temple which is the main tourist attraction in the area. This hotel was the Indian equivalent to a full service Best Western. The A/C ran cold, there was hot water (only in the morning) and breakfast was included in the rate. The rooms were reasonably clean, but the public areas could have been cleaner. Breakfast was okay, but could have been better. I stayed here for two nights. I didn't make it up to the restaurant, but the friend I was traveling with said it was good. The most annoying thing was that room was very nosy. I stayed on the first floor (can't remember the room number) and was close to what appeared to be a kitchen or employee cafeteria. There was the constant clatter of silverware and dishes starting at about 5AM. Then in evening, the clatter, and chatter started back up and continued until about 11PM. During the day, there was the sound of pounding, like the were renovating some area and chipping out tiles. The room service carts could also use some grease as they squeaked rather badly going down the hallway. The internet in the lobby was quite spotty and their computer did not work well at all. Over all, if you're in town for only a couple of nights and want to be close to the attractions, this hotel is not bad, but it's not great. Don't stay on the first floor!

Room Tip: Don't stay on the first floor! There is a kitchen or employee cafeteria that is very nosy early...
