“Great food, Shabby ambience.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 29, 2013

If you are true lover of great north indian cuisine and don't care about the ambience of an eatery much, then this is the place for you.

Mohan Bhojanalay, is situated on the first floor of a dilapidated and non descript building on an extremely conjusted street in Madurai. Trying to drive to the place can be quite a nightmare especially in the evenings. Traffic is complete madness in the area. A better option would be to take an autorickshaw to the place.

Aesthetics and hygiene are not top priority in the place and the tables, chairs and even the tableware are  purely functional and ageing not-so-gracefully.

Having said that, the food is nothing short of heavenly. A bit on the spicier side, their platter offers quite a few varieties of vegetables and lentils. They even have the famous Rajasthani Kadhi. Their rotis with a generous amount of ghee simply melt in the mouth. And all this comes at a very reasonable price.

I would definitely recommend the place for their fantastic North Indian food. But please don't go there expecting a decent ambience.

“Good food from North in South”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 13, 2013

It is always difficult to find north cuisine in south India. When you are able to locate such restaurant you fill good. And when the food also satisfies your stomach, it's awesome feeling.

Thanks to Mohan Bhojanalaya.

its like a simple mess but serves authentic north indian food at an affordable price.

i loved the aloo curry they prepared and it tastes great with ghee roti.

it a place u must visit if you like north indian food.
