Stayed in this hotel to attend Madurai Menakshi Thiruvilla. Very close to the East entrance of the temple. During the festival most of the road leading to temple will be closed, So staying in this temple will be a plus point as you can just walked to the temple whenever you want. Staffs are very helpful.

Stayed in this hotel for a night. The hotel is located steps away from the Meenakshi temple and is right in the hub of activities. The place is well suited to absorb the culture of the place and mingle with the local people. The closeness to the Meenakshi temple means that you can take the amazing walk around the temple late at night and in early mornings when the atmosphere is surreal. The people at Simap are very friendly and make you comfortable and help you overcome the distinct language problem that is faced in the region. The guy at the hotel came down with me at all times and talked to the rickshaw wallas, ensured that I was not overcharged and helped in every possible ways. The rooms were also neat and clean and very comfortable. The only negative that I could think of is that the place lacks an attached restaurant. But I found it to be a blessing in disguise and had all my meals at Murugan Idli that is 40 rupees on auto rickshaw from the hotel and has the awesomest south indian food that Ive ever tried.
The hotel is highly recommended and good value for money. I will definitely stay here again in case I return to Madurai.

Room Tip: All rooms are the same. In case you require more space you can go in for the higher category room.

We booked this hotel based on Tripadvisor reviews. We were a family of 4 adults and 2 infants. Their standard room cost INR 2500 ( incl Taxes) but for the cost, the room size and facilities offered does not match.

Positives +

- Great Location, Walkable to Madurai temple
- Clean Room

Negatives -

- Std Room size does not justify cost, no ventilation
- No common area for dining, Breakfast served in Room and you pretty much eat on bed ( as there is harpy any space)
- Solar heating for water hence do not expect hot water ( if your infant needs hot water bath)
- Nearby hotel is about 10 minutes walk and Simap does not have a hotel/kitchen

Me and My family of 4 checked into this hotel for a night. We booked the suite room.
Pros:
1) Very near to Meenakshi Amman Temple(4 mins by Walk) and other major landmarks are very near.
2) Restrooms were very spacious and maintained properly.
3) Safety Lockers are provided.
4) Staffs were very friendly.

Cons:
1) The Hotel doesn't have its own restaurant.
2) Showers and taps were bit leaky.

Overall, If you ask me to recommend a good stay at Madurai, I would blindly say its "Simap Residency"

The Goods:
Location- The title shouts loud, Can’t be any better, not even a hundred steps from the East gate of the temple, Most centrally located with a wonderful shopping area adjacent to it.
Wifi: Good speed
Rooms: As shown in the pictures, generally clean, the washroom is big though the fittings require a change for sure.
The Bads:
No In House Restaurant: That’s a big minus, they get the breakfast from an adjacent south Indian restaurant and that’s the ONLY thing which is served during then, even if you bang your head against their walls, it won’t be anything else, and in case you’re a late night eater as I am then watch out, the nearby shops close completely by 930 pm, either sleep hungry or travel long to get a decent restaurant.
Rooms don't have any natural ventilation source, nor there is a source for natural sunlight, asking for a balcony room will be like looking for a luxury you wouldn't be ever availed.
Room Service: Pathetic, bed sheets were dirty, and when requested for a change, the replacement sheets were equally or more spotted, The staff will come, throw the linen on your bed, pillows here and there and will vanish, leaves you surprised. The guy at the reception stammers, by the time he might answer your query you kinda feel better leave the question unanswered.
During the noon we preferred coming back to the hotel and take rest for a while and found ourselves surprised to see that the only lift was under maintenance, upon request the staff assured that it should be functioning in a while which ended up the status quo for next 15 minutes or so, eventually we preferred taking the staircase to the second floor, and that was a pain to my elderly mother.
No tea/coffee arrangements in the room except a water boiler.
Tips:
1.Commuting to/from the railway station will cost you around Rs 80-100 by the auto.
2.Commuting to/from the Airport will cost you Rs 400 by an indica.
3.For a good Saari shopping there is a great shop by the name of Rajmahal near by, where you can buy amazing collections for the women in the family.
4.For a good south Indian food experience Sabarees is close to it, the autos take around Rs 50-70 one way from the hotel.
5.Tamil is the only language the people around generally understand, ensure that you make these autowalas and taxiwalas speak to the reception area for a better guidance to the hotel.

Room Tip: All the rooms are same, No ventilation, No direct sunlight, For all the claustrophobic people out th...

We were on a 3 day whirlwind tour of about 20 temples in Madurai and surrounding areas and it was so lovely to come back to SIMAP for a comfortable place to rest at night or in the afternoons. Its location at just a 3 minute leisurely walk from the temple's east entrance came in so very handy. One day I went to the temple at 4.30 am by myself and it was really safe area.

The decor was very tasteful - lovely carved pillars even in the small area of the reception. The rooms are clean, well equipped with well made furniture and comfortable bed comforters and pillows. No hassle for extra pillows or towels. A big plus are the clean bathrooms. It looked like a new or renovated place and I really really hope they maintain it like this. Room rent comes with decent free wifi connection and breakfast served in room - in a way it was convenient because you can get ready in the morning without having to wait in a restaurant or cafe. Room cleaning was done promptly. Extremely courteous desk people. Even when electricity went off, basic amenities including fan, air conditioner and important lights worked without disrupting our stay.

Suggestions for improvements: The bathroom desperately needs a long bar to hang clothes and also a spacious shelf to place toiletries. Hope management will read this and take action.

It got noisy sometimes at night because the night-duty staff who sleep at the reception carry on conversations. But I went and told them to keep it down and they obliged immediately.

Room Tip: Three of us went and we chose a room with king size bed. They said if we can adjust in one bed they...

Location, cleanliness and service quality are the best things about this hotel. I stayed with my dad & mom at Simap Residency. All of us were very happy to stay in this hotel. Extremely close to the east gate of the Meenakshi Madurai Temple, quality of service is good and cleanliness of the room was very good. Even though there is no restaurant, the room service breakfast was very tasty. Worth its price.
