One of the must see place in Madurai. It is a place for casual, religious, heritage visits. The temple has a long history behind it and you can imagine how this temple must have been long back. Sit beside the lotus tank in the evenings or a walk along the temple courtyard gives you a perspective of the local people visiting the temple. Marvel at the architecture & the carved deities & other representations. Photography is prohibited in some of the areas of the temple and do not wear foot wears in the temple. Do not walk in the open area during hot days as you may get burns easily walking with bare foot. Dressing requires to be a bit conservative.
There are not many restroom options and not clean per standards in many other countries. This needs some improvement. Approaching it may be difficult as some of the area has been cordoned recently for vehicles. Leave the footwear near the counters at the entrance of the temple.
Overall: Must see place
Tips: If you dont have much time to visit but require to visit the inner sanctums, beat the queue by purchasing special tickets, you can get closer view of the deities. Sometimes, the queue can be very long. Decide the purchase of ticket based on the length of the queue.Inquire at the counter for right ticket as there are few other tickets for pujas as well.
