“NIce temple with ancient Architecture”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

Beautiful architecture inside and out...Great ancient touch and nice colors on the statues!! Well organised for worship even when crowded. Lord Shiva and Parvati temples are very well made!
Tip: Buy Rs 100 ticket for extremely close and quick darshan in both temples. Worth the money!

“An incredible insight into Hinduism”
Reviewed February 23, 2013

With a good guide, being able to witness a variety of rituals and ceremonies was a real privilege. It is the perfect place to learn some of the intricacies of Hindu beliefs and practices. We were lucky enough to see a wedding in process and the ritual in which a newish bride exchanges her amber cord for a gold necklace. There is just too much to tell!

Do take in the ceremonies which take place in AND AROUND the temple.

“Madurai means Meenakshi Temple”
Reviewed February 21, 2013

well maintained but prepare yourself as it will take 2hours to see whole temple, and remember the way in so you could keep track were you surrender your belongings in the cloak room

“Magnificient!”
Reviewed February 19, 2013

I had visited the Meenakshi Temple many times and every time I seemed amazed. The temple complex is huge and architecture is magnificient. I think there are around 10 Gopurams and this temple is in the heart of Madurai. The Porthamarai kulam is peaceful and divine. The Ayiramkaal mandapam is another architectural marvel.
It was nominated for New Sevens Wonders of the World and we Indians should be proud of our ancestors.
