“Absolute Luxury. Absolute Nature!”

Just got back from the best holiday resort we've been to in a long time. The Kurumba Village Resort is set in a spice plantation that blends into the edge of the great Nilgiri forest reserve. Amazing views from every window, well thought out layout of cottages, carefully planned walkways, the most amazing mirror swimming pool that drops off into the forest, extremely unobtrusive, yet always courteous staff and impeccable cleanliness are just some of the things that we'll tell you about. Exotic birds, wild elephants, the giant squirrel and loads of wild flowers were a treat as well. The climb from the lower cottages is not easy but definitely worth it.

Room Tip: The lower cottages next to the stream are to die for! We recommend 109 for amazing views and absolut...

A real forest resort. Stayed with family including young children aged 4.

Pros:
Real Forest. Peaceful. Valley views. Very green propoerty.
Cottages nice with wonderful balcony.
Food average but they were very kind to arrange early dinners for us. Normal time is 8.30 dinner and 1 pm lunch.

Cons:
Far from Coonoor. Transport arranged by resort for sightseeing but not very efficient.
Play room very very poorly maintained.
Staff efficiency - very varied. some were great but some just seemed disinterested. probably did not know their jobs.
Ran out of bathing towels one evening (theyhad kept insufficient no. of them in morning cleaning so asked for more). We were told towels have all gone for wash. Got towels next morning!!

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for rooms closer to reception level. Bottom rooms, while good for people who want...

Each visit I am completely awed by the sheer unspoilt beauty of this resort. This visit I choose to stay in a different , newly added room , Jacuzzi Suite. They have not comprised on the room size, luxury at its best.Huge Living room with LCD T.V's , a nice Bamboo Bar with Bar stools. It was stocked with Wine glasses & pity we did not carry a wine bottle to celebrate. As of now they do not have a bar license , so carry your own hard liquor for your personal consumption. Bathroom with the Jacuzzi was an experience in itself . Sinking into that jacuzzi with touch screen panel , whilst sipping your fav drink & getting your tired feet & back massaged ,watching the magnificient blue mountains was sheer magic and rejuvenating. Food menus by Jyothish was amazing. Each meal was an elaborate affair & Kerala Sea food was to pine for..!!!Jyothish would walk up to each guest at meal times & interact with them & even a slighest meal pref. was taken care off. Love their experiences , latest being A Romantic Candlelight Tree House Dinner , with the chef cooking a meal right there for you. Loads of indoor games were offered for the in house guests & could see many of them spending hours at it ...whilst we went for a plantation trek. Staff is so well trained & even the sweeper greets you as you walk past. Could not get into their pool this time . Will be back to this wonderful resort for a longer stay....

Room Tip: If you have elderly people travelling with you , opt for Suites , closer to the reception area. Else...

This is a very good Eco resort. Room size is good with big Bathroom and attached Balcony. It is set amidst spice plantation and on weekend they organize some music/folk dance programme as well. Service is very good.Food is also good. BUT, with some drawbacks. Not recommended for elderly as it is located in valley. All the cottages are spread on different altitudes. Too much uphill climb to reach restaurant, swimming pool and evening tea stall. Insist for upper cottages only. Also, balcony is not safe for toddler as they can slip in between the railing. Better to go in winters as summer is very hot. The climate here is more like Kerala hot and humid. It is located 2.5 hrs. drive from Ooty and 45 minutes drive from Coonoor towards mettupalyam/coimbatore.

Room Tip: Go for Upper level cottage (on the same level of reception and restaurant in order to avoid to much...

Kurumba Vilage is IN a national forest well below Conoor on the switch-back road. Each hut has a private deck where you can watch the birds and butterflies dance. The Hut was clean and lovely , with the one problem of minimal hot water and it looks brown,
, is this rust or what?
The staff is nice and attentive. Great food in the restaurant.
No internet, but we will accept this in a forest. They did spend the bucks for satellite TV, which we were not interested in.
Signage on the road was minimal, one big sign, and if you miss it , it's hard to turn around. There might be some park restrictions on the signage.
But the truth is we loved our stay, its always a treat to be ‘up-scale- no roughing it” and in a forest at the same time.

From the road leading away from Coonoor, there is a sylvan retreat that leaves a tourist satiated. The facilities and service are excellent, the cuisine to die for and the ambience worth several visits. Near the tea plantations of Coonoor, away from the bustle of Ooty, Kurumba's staff welcomes the visitor like nowhere else. The flora and fauna are also captivating.

Room Tip: The duplex suites are like super tree houses, overlooking lofty mountains

The trip to the location itself was an experience . From the airport to the location took around an hour odd. beautiful scenery on the way . the road that was leading down to the rooms was making me think was it worth it?. the reception was on the right once the vehicle stopped.

The bags were picked and were taken to a cottage right next to the stream , a hammock at the side. A 1 floor suite . good really nicely maintained. comfortable. The thought was it the right thing vanished. It was. food Excellent. Peace Excellent . (Monkeys Excellent - did not disturb!!!)Service Too good. The 3 days spent were travelling to ooty / trecking and lazying around . Nights campfire . days the stream for you - towards the right there is a rocky fall and a small pool you can laze in / or the real pool on top if you wish .Room service in case you want ( Have read that there is none , not sure cause i availed it..) . there is a game room in case you wish to play.

Clouds comming in which was visible when gone for lunch / night the lighting was just like a glittering diamonds just enough to see but the aura caused was spellbinding.

Will be travelling again for sure not once but many times.

Room Tip: Get the room next to the stream , will be a walk but the ambiance will blow you to a different level...
