As mentioned in my review, La Belle Vie is McIver's restaurant, and they serve amazing pizzas and continental food. Their fresh juices are a must! And a chat with Bob is also recommended!

I have been to La Belle Vie four or five times now and have enjoyed it every time. Their food is organic and the herbs and vegetables they use are delicious. Their fruit juices are also very good and the views of Coonoor are beautiful. It is lovely to sit outside here on a sunny day but their tables inside are also good - I love the splashes of colour here! The salads are a good choice and the balsamic chicken. If you are missing pizza, this is also a good option!

We were recommended the place by friends who were familiar with the hill country. When you are here you are always looking for places to go to - and this may be a little out of the way. You'll have to ask for the road from Coonoor to Wellington - the Cantonment region. On this road - if you are seated on the left side of the car - you cannot miss the most exquisite looking property. Look for signs that say "McIver".
We called and booked but we probably didn't have to - when we got there at 1930 we were the only folks in. With the north-eastern monsoon setting in - the weather may have had a role to play. I'm feel pretty sure the locals rarely patronise the place, at most it is locals entertaining visitors to the region.
The menu promises Thai, Italian, Indian and French. Our friends advised French cuisine. But the kids ordered the bbq pizza and they enjoyed the meal. The wife and I decided to do the cream of chicken soup - which was was truly chest-warming. We then had the lamb chops - because they didn't have the balsamic chicken. (They also didn't have another item we asked for - not the tourist season I guess). The lamb was well marinated and very pleasing to the Indian palate.
The desserts platter offered had the chocolate eclair, almond cake and cheese cake - we stuck to the former two and enjoyed them.
Honestly, I wouldn't rate it right up there - but it is good for a change. At Rs.1800 for dinner for 4 - it appears a good deal. I wish they had some wines going though - they said we could bring our own. But in Tamil Nadu finding good wine at the local "TASMAC" shops is probably as difficult as finding arrack in Paris!
If you are there in the daytime stop at the chocolaterie at the entrance/exit - La Bon Cacao. Your sweet tooth will be satisfied.

We happened to come across La Belle Vie’s poster in the Green Shop in Coonoor. It serves up organic Indian, French and Italian food. Our group ate only the French and Italian varieties which were absolutely delicious! Its worth the penny you pay, it works out to Rs 500-600 per person for a meal which consists of a starter, main course ,desert and coffee/tea. It is connected to the property of 180 McIver Villa which is on a hill top, overlooking a valley having a magnificent view. Go here for the food and enjoy a relaxing fine dining experience with a view!
