“Average place, Good food & Great location!!”
Reviewed January 1, 2013

The location of this Taj property is in a beautiful & serene area of Coonoor. And its a beautifully maintained property. We were welcomed at the reception very warmly by the Manager. But the hotel & rooms are a disappointment both in term of size & amenities available. The rooms are average sized at best & the hotel does not have much to offer in terms of amenities & facilities. They dont even have a swimming pool here but the spa is very good. They offer various kind of massages which are very relaxing and therapeutic.

They have a buffet system for all meals & the food is very good plus the variety is fantastic. The service is also very warm. But the property is your typical Taj style & does not seem worth the amount of money you pay for the stay. Would definitely try a different hotel next time in Ooty/Coonoor.

The hotel is managed very well by Mr. Muralitharan, who interacts with all the guests and takes personal interest to ensure a comfortable stay. The hotel has a neat garden. Staff seem extremely motivated and provide service with a smile. Food is decent. Overall a great place to stay in nilgiris.

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the rear garden - they are really large and quiet

We were a group of four friends (all men) and visited this place for two nights between 28-30 Dec. Although it was a peak season, we were surprised to find executive room vacant when we arrived. We had not done prior booking and just went in there after hopping in at multiple places. The staff is extremely polite and well behaved. The executive room is quite bid and can accommodate 4 people quite easily. However as per policy the hotel can only allow 3 people. After much requests the front office manager in discussions with the hotel manager allowed all of us to stay with two extra beds. This was very good show by the staff and we instantly liked the attitude.

Otherwise, this is a great place to stay. It is calm and peaceful. Although the activity center and gym needs major upgrade. There is no swimming pool as well. Food is decent but gets monotonous after a day or two as is the case with most food inclusive hotel packages. The hotel management should provide in room slippers as the floor gets really cold in the nights.

All in all, a great place to relax with family and friends and is the best bet in the ooty/coonoor area.

Room Tip: Not all rooms have bathtubs. Request for one with bathtub if you are keen on it. Also executive roo...

The standard rooms are cramped and do not befit a Taj tag.
Average amenities and almost feels like you are in a cramped room in a metro, not worth the price you pay for them.
the suite is an altogether different experience, with a large drawing, separate kids room and and a large bathroom with bath tub.
service is good but food is plain average, north indians will have a problem with the taste

Room Tip: go for the suite or the executive room, do not settle for the standard room

Liked the Hotel at first sight! We were upgraded on arrival. Room had a fireplace, which we used both nights. Room is old colonial but the bathroom is spacious, modern and well equipped. Meals were in the dining room - added touch of fireplace and pianist to set the mood. The pianist (incidentally) was very good. Limited menu, but food was freshly made and very tasty. Buffet breakfast. Staff was very friendly and helpful; even instructed the taxi driver where to take us for sightseeing and shopping.

Room Tip: Pick a "Garden facing room". You can sit out (in fair weather)

Excellent place to stay, very good staff, well managed by the GM Muralitharan. My 4 year old son was pampered in the hotel. Staff was always giving service with a smile. Nice and neat place, worth visiting again. Conoor is a better place as compared to Ooty. Food quality was great and quantity adequate.
