My Four days stay at Bison Country Home stay coonoor was wonderful , Its an experience we will cherish for a long long time, I will definitely take a holiday again to this beautiful place where we forgot all our worries and were wit the nature and enjoying fresh natural oxygen all through our stay.In spite of being the month of May we had to use sweaters and woolen clothes after six in the evening. The people taking care Mr. Kumar and Mr. Anwar were very nice and took care of all our needs .The food was very homely and tasty.Though it is away from the city but still enjoyed every moment of our stay. A must must to go and enjoy place.

Bison Country which is around 8 kms from Coonoor bus stand is situated in between tea estates, with a nearby village, this place is serene and beautiful.

They keep few birds, rabbits, ducks in their backyard, provide good breakfast and dinner, along with camp fire in the night just before the dinner. the campfire is a good way to get introduced to other guests and make friends.

Ask for room "Den 1" before anything else, this room has a breathtaking view of the valley with tea plantations from the balcony on two sides and you can watch a beautiful sunrise from there.

It was one of the most memorable places for us so much so that when we repeated the trip with our immediate extended family (14 adults, and 3 children) it was even better.
We made it happen with great difficulty because with such a large group there would be dropouts but this time there were only additions.
We booked 3 cottages and we also took 1 room in Nest(which is next to BC).
We stayed there for 3 nights and 4 days.
To say the least it was one of the best times we had with our entire family. There is something interesting for everyone.
It is an idyllic place and the food is down-to-earth.
You really do feel that you are in a place where you are cared for, there is so much of personal touch in the service. Ofcourse you cant expect it to be truly proffessional. It is more like how you get treated in a friend's house.
Mark my words "Once you are here you will not want to go for typical sight-seeing". Although there would be an overwhelming urge to take people "visiting" ooty to take for some of it too, but you would love to go back to your warm cottage.

Simply put "Its beautiful, cozy, warm and friendly"

Room Tip: 1) Have your own transportation 2) have warm wear.

Dear All,
I would like to share with all about this beautiful place to stay close to ooty and Coonoor. The name of the place is Bison Country. Please check website for more details and pictures. It is set up in the serene and green hill side. They have spacious cottages and deluxe rooms for offer. It has perfect ambience and cleaniness which I could expect for me and my family. They have an excellent care taker and cook who dishes out some of the yummiest home made food too. They have rabbits, turkeys, ducks in abundance. My son could not stop playing with the friendly animals. They have a huge collection of english and hindi movies and also have Tata sky connection with almost uniterupted electricity. There is provison of local sight seeing and trekking around the area. They also a basket ball court and select indoor games.
I would strongly recommend everyone to stay if they are planning a trip in that side of south India.

Only Good things: Colonel and his wife were very warm. Food was good. Location is amazing. All rooms are facing a giant mountain and view is awesome. Initially we planned to go to Ooty. But the place was so crowded that we decided to skip and spend entire 2 days in and around our home stay. There is a dam closeby, cheese making factory, nice resorts to dine out. We trekked on our own and had a relaxing holiday.

We had a 2 nights 3 days stay at Bison Country, Coonoor during August 2012 and the memories are still fresh which make us want to go back again. We were lucky there was no rainfall during our stay so soaked ourselves in the sun during the mornings and enjoyed the bonfire at nights. The caretaker, Mr. Kumar was too good. We enjoyed every bit of our stay and the food was also good. My kids didn't want to leave the estate so I convinced them by telling we will come back again. Overall, an unforgettable feel-good experience.

We went on a weekend trip to coonoor and stayed at bison country homestay. The stay was amazing and the food was delicious. The hosts were equally helpful and friendly. The rooms were extremely clean and the whole homestay is in very quiet place. Definitely liked the view and quietness of the place. We explored the Raliah dam and the toda village as the hosts suggested and it marked a perfect day for us.
