“Very clean & peaceful Hotel”
Reviewed October 27, 2012

We stayed at Mahendra Prakash recently and were very happy with the cleanliness and decor of the rooms. The staff at the restaurant were really good. The food was tasty and well priced. We booked our car through the hotel for all 3 days we were there. One of the day's we got a driver called Lokesh who was rude and very inconsiderate of the fact that my daughter was unwell. Better avoid him. Else other drivers were very friendly and helpful. The hotel outsources their drivers so I would suggest if you get a good driver, better ask the hotel to book the same driver for all the days.

Room Tip: The bed was actually two single beds pushed together....not sure if all the rooms have those kind of...

The best hotel in that price category I ever stayed in India. A beautiful room with an alkoven and coloured windows, great swimming pool and garden and a very helpful staff, fluent in English and not after tips. They are very helpful in organizing trips and excursions. And Udaipur anyway is one of the best places in India.

This hotel is a hidden gem with understated luxury and became a favourite hotel of those I visited in India. Extremely comfortable & welcoming inside. I really enjoyed having breakfast in the garden and my room was gorgeous. There is a pool and they even have 2 tortoises who live there and hang out in the garden. I loved the way this hotel was decorated, an Indian oasis. The service provided by the staff was impeccable and friendly. I had to remind myself to get outside and see Udaipur!

If the lake palace is too expensive, but you want to stay within close proximity, this hotel is perfect. Staff provided great service, rooms were clean and beautifully decorated. If you get the chance, request one of the guest rooms with the stained glass window seat. It gives you that feel of the Mughal Royalty. Udaipur has to be one of my favourite Rajastan cities.

When you're after a midrange hotel with a pool, good atmosphere and clean rooms, Mahendra Prakash is the choice. Staff is helpful, but some guys at the desk could tone it down just a little so it stays sincere... ;-)

Breakfast is best enjoyed in the lovely garden. Don't step on a tortoise though...!

Room Tip: the rooms on the topfloor have a great balcony with fort and pool view. Plus you're very near th...

This is was one of the best places we stayed at while travelling through Rajasthan last December (2011). We had three rooms and all of them were quite pleasant and tastefully decorated. The two rooms on the top floors had a great view of the fort. The service was impeccable and the staff helpful, friendly and polite. The food in the restaurant was lovely home-cooked fare and apart from a couple of days when we ate outside (more to try other places than anything else) we basically ended up there! December was cold and the rooms chilly but small heating units were provided upon request (albeit one must admit they are fairly inefficient but generally all that tends to be used/available). The staff was so kind! I cannot emphasise this enough as this is what really makes this place stand apart from the usual - we travelled to Kumbalgarh etc. after checking out of this place but had to come back to Udaipur for catching the train back to Delhi - perhaps it is no surprise that we came back here for lunch and a post-lunch snooze in the sun next to the pool before freshening up and heading to the train station.

Room Tip: Higher floors have better views and get more sun in the winter.

We enjoyed our 2 nights here. The room is fine for a stay and has everythig needed. It is not 5 star so don't stay here if this is what you want. Comfortable garden area, massage was good and breakfast albeit limited and not appealing was ok. Staff try their best to ensure you are happy.
