It was indeed amazing to get a darshan (view) of the Shree Nath Ji.

But, beware of the crowds and the rush to get in for the Darshan. We discovered there are ways to pay "extra" and get to the front of the line. This is the "VIP" line. You have to negotiate how much you want to pay in order to get the VIP treatment. (I would suggest 500 rupees to 750 rupees per person for VIP entrance). Even then, its such a rush.

once you finished praying, you have to get out and walk about half a kilometer or so to the car park. During this time, you can sample/shop the local market (and eat if your stomach permits!). Also, you will have people asking you for money, donations, etc. Just ignore them.

DO NOT CARRY ANYTHING with you while you visit the temple (NO Cellphones, wallets, expensive jewelry, etc). Keep everything in your car.
It takes about 90 minutes from Udaipur in traffic times.

Ask your hotel concierge as to when the darshan times are and plan accordingly. The temple is not open through the day.

I lived ten miles from this site during the mid sixties. It is a holy place for for devotees of Krishna especially for Gujarati 's. If you look closely many of the signs, above stores, are in Gujarati rather than in Hindi. It is true there is somewhat of a stampede quality to the darshun or religious visit because of the popularity of the place. Only Hindus could visit this temple during the sixties, that has changed. Of all the temples I have visited in India I must say this one has the drama and excitement you will find no where else. On the way back to Udaipur, take in the temple of Eklinji, the bus has a rest stop, so devotees can make a visit or darshun. I visited this place many times and enjoyed shouting out Sanskrit prayers along with the other devotees. It was a convenient break on the bus trip from Rajsamand to Udaipur.

I have to completely agree with the earlier review.Srinathji temple is just around one hour drive from Udaipur. The only saving grace during my visit to this temple was the diety! Its really a divine experience to have a darshan in this temple..rest all bad. i have been to a lot of religious places but nowhere is the crowd management as poor as it here. And that is only for starters...we had a horde of beggars trailing us till our vehicle on our way back. Entry is through a very narrow lane and lined with shops on both sides. I think its only through the grace of srinathji that this place is so far free from any stampede. I hope the temple management wakes up to take care of devotees and streamline crowd management

We went to see Srinathji Temple in Udaipur during our visit in December 2009. The temple apparently opens for only about 45 min each day around 11am. The crowd was so bad that we were worried about stampede and injury, or God forbid, even loss of life. There is one narrow street leading to the temple and no way to get out if one changes one's mind and decides not to go any further.

We were keen on praying at the temple but decided to leave after getting caught up in the crowd.
