Surprisingly nice hotel up a small back street. We encountered a problem with our car not being able to access the front of the hotel. Our driver had to walk to the hotel and ask for the porters to come down and meet with us. They carried our luggage up the hill. The walk was hard going after a long day's drive. Would be very difficult for the elderly or infirm. The problem with car access was ongoing during the length of our stay. The driver of the car had to meet us at the bottom of the hill and we would have to walk a kilometre or two to where the car was parked on the edge of the old city. Not the driver's fault. There is simply nowhere to park.

We were allocated room 401. It was an average sized room off the side of the rooftop restaurant. There was no lift so it is a long way up and down all the stairs. No refrigerator supplied for keeping food or drinks cold or jug for heating water. Limited hot water for showers - 7am to 10am and 7 pm to 9 pm. Nicely decorated room though, with small day bed in nook beside recessed windows. Great place to chill out with a book or magazine and a cup of tea for half an hour. The room and bathroom were kept very clean.

All restaurant meals and breakfast that we had were quite good. The view from the rooftop restaurant is quite wonderful, overlooking on one side Lake Pichola, Jag Niwas (Island Palace) and Jag Mandir (Pleasure Island). Staff were friendly and gave good service. It was a bit cold, so braziers were placed beside each table. We were staying at this hotel for New Years Eve. Unfortunately, there was no special celebration organised at the hotel. But we went up to the roof top restaurant, as did some other guests, and had a magnificent 360 degree view of the fireworks from the houses and hotels nearby which lasted about half an hour. A special way to spend memorable New Years Eve.

The hotel is well situated within the old city for sightseeing and shopping. Everything is within walking distance.

Room Tip: If you have a car, be mindful that parking within walking distance is almost non-existent.

We are architects, found madri haveli, most refreshing place. Being 300 years old, it was renovated with atmost care retaining the essence of udaipur. The palace feels more of a home, yet amazing hospitality. The foods tastes really good. It's located right in the heart , very close to the palace and other shopping areas. We had our best time in madri. Thank you so much see you soon.

We stayed 2 nights in Udaipur at Madrid Haveli and we very much enjoyed our stay there. The hotel is in a 3,000 years old haveli very well restored in the center of Udaipur (very close to the main attractions). The rooms were very nice, the staff excellent and the view from the top roof gorgeous.

Unfortunately they did not have the license for selling alcoholic beverages and therefore we have not had dinner there... Also a bit noisy because of the not to far temple (people singing at 5.50AM) but I assume it is the same everywhere in the city...

My 4 sisters and I went on a road trip in Rajesthan and decided to stay at Madre Haveli. We all loved the stylish way the rooms and suites were done. The stained glass and use of stone through out with lots of niches made it a haven for me. If you like fabulous interiors without the high pricetag, this is the place to be in. Location is also superb, we found it very handy to have the cobbler at our door step. Food on the rooftop was great. The staff were very informative and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed this place n wld love to come back soon.

We booked this room online through Goibibo and it was a very bad experience. We had booked two delux rooms but at the time of check-in were offered one delux and one ordinary room. The hotel staff said that they had received the request for one delux and one ordinary room through their agent who handles their bookings. We called up Goibibo and they said they will call back and get the problem resolved in 30 mins. However, we did not get any calls from them. Finally we decided to accept the room as we were in no mood to fight when on a vacation.(though we had paid for two delux rooms)

The problem was due to the agent who handles the online bookings for Madri. He accepted payment for two delux rooms and passed on the payment for one delux and one ordinary room.

This problem apart the delux room was nice and clean. However, we were not happy with the location. The other side of the lake was much better(ambavgarh) as it was more open and cleaner (roads, surroundings) than ganesh ghati. However, the food and service at Madri Haveli was excellent. I would again reiterate that the problem may have been due to the agent who hadles the booking. Therefore, please confirm your bookings in advance and take a confirmation about the type of room booked i.e whether it has been appropriately communicated to the hotel.
