We were lucky to get the last standard room available in this very delicately renovated Haveli. The dark wood of the door and the furnitures, the white walls and ceilings, the spacious bathroom made us feel very comfortable from the beginning. Generally staff was very helpful and friendly and problems were dealt with immediately and efficiently. The food on the quite roof top terrace is just excellent even though a bit on the expensive side. As stated below already, the breakfast menu should be available in written form, so that everybody knows exactly what's included and what not. For 2'000 Rupies doubtlessly one of the best deals we got during our 6 weeks in India. If they continue improving on their already high service level standards an overall excellent rating will be guaranteed.

We stayed for 2 nights in Madri Haveli... Got this place as a 2nd option from yatra.. First to the good part.. The rooms are awesome.. Nice beautiful place to stay.. Rooms were lit and gave the old haveli look.. Good work to restore the place.. Roof top restaurant etc...

Now to the average and below average part.. The room didnt have a bucket and a mug and with hot water coming at certain times this was needed.. We asked and we got it immediately.. The rooftop restaurant is fine, but exorbitantly priced for the hotel.. Similar or a little lower kind of food is available for cheaper prices in the surrounding hotels.. The location is not great.. It is difficult for vehicles to squeeze into the small street... Now to our bad experience.. We needed to travel to Jaipur by the early morning train and had a flight to catch that afternoon from Jaipur.. So we told the reception that we needed an auto at 5:30 AM.. We confirmed the same not once but thrice after that and got the response "It will be done. No problem".. We went at 5:30 AM and there was no auto.. The guy took one of our bags and asked us to walk with other bag in the cold to a place 100m-200m away saying there will always be auto and no auto there.. Then he said we should walk to some other junction.. It was almost 5:45 and we were running quite late already.. We asked him why auto was not booked earlier.. He said "I tried calling the auto guy at 5:30.. He is not picking the phone".. Funnier was when he said he didnt book the auto coz he was not sure whether we will agree to the cost that the auto guy is gonna charge... He had no backup plan and we were walking in cold here and there.. There was no auto in all those places he said.. We sarcastically asked him whether he was planning to make us walk all the way to station for which we got a sample of his sense of humour when he said "No.. That will be too far sir".. Somehow finally we managed to get an auto on our own which was dropping someone at some other place and asked him to come back for us and managed to reach the station... This was pretty bad service which we never found in any hotel in any city till now...

We highly appreciate your feedback and the review and hope that you enjoyed staying at Madri Haveli.

We owe an apology for the inconvenience in morning regarding Auto Rickshaw. Upon investigating the issue further we came to know that the Auto Rickshaw owner failed to show up on time. In future we promise to crease this out.

We are confident that in your next trip to Udaipur, we shall see you again at Madri Haveli.

I'm probably a bit over excited about this place because we'd been staying at slightly less expensive places around Rajasthan that and this felt like a SERIOUS upgrade!

The place is really well designed and the staff was super nice. We never ate dinner at the Hotel but the breakfast was good and it's a great roof top restaurant.

If this is in your price point you can't go wrong....if it's just a little more than you want to spend, treat yourself, you'll be glad you did.

The only things I'd complain about is that taxi's can't get all the way to the hotel but it's not a far walk and the staff would be glad to come help with your bags.

We booked this place only on the basis of looking at the reviews here which rated it as excellent. After we landed at udaipur and hired a cab to drop us there and said the address to the driver, he said he was not aware of such a place although he is staying near the hotel area (ganesh gati) for years now. And he was saying things like people just book on net without knowing much hinting at being duped :). When we reached the ganesh gati area the narrow by lanes and the old place didn't do much to improve our initial perception built coz of the cab driver.

But then all this was to change as soon as we were escorted to our rooms by the very courteous staff. What we saw was an elegant and a beautiful room reminding a bit of a by gone era -colored windows, the sitting area, decor etc. Not just the room the court yards were just beautiful. And in no time we fell in love with our place :)

If that was for the rooms, the location is also pretty good. centrally located in the old city and at a walking distance from all the major attractions - city palace, jagadish temple and even lake pichola. Since we like covering all the places by walk, we found this place pretty ideal for that.

The hotel staff are super friendly too. On the last day of our stay we had to start early and the staff were very sweet to get our break fast ready before 7 am.

We did not dine much at the place, but for break fast which was good. So, cannot say much about food. But most importantly they got the breakfast made when we really wanted it :)

Recommended.

Room Tip: We had our room facing the neighbour hood, check if you can get one facing the city instead

We stayed in Madri Haveli for one night. An old rotting building has been taken up by the investor and has painstakingly redone the entire place. I will reserve my comments on whether this is a truly restored haveli, but surely done very well.
The taxi will drop you off at the entrance of Ganesh Ghat, from where this place is just about 100 mtrs away. Mr.Shankar Singh, the GM of the hotel is very hospitable. The terrace roof top restaurant has good views, but not as great as the other hotels closer to the water edge. It was awfully cold and we did not have another choice, as they do not seem to have a closed restaurant.
The rooms are well done and well kept. The bathrooms are terrific. Except for the fact that they could not provide for a room heater ( as the external walls are thin, made of stone and tended to bring in the cold ), we were well looked after.

We stayed in a Superior Room and overall a great experience. The hotel has been carefully renovated and done a wonderful job. The room and the bathroom were modern, clean and simply furnished with basics.

The hotel is still in its early stages therefore some items such as refrigerator, wardrobe, safe etc are not available. Hopefully these will be incorporated in due course.

The rooftop restaurant is well furnished and we had our breakfast daily within these premises. The food was good however the waiter was rather unattentive and rude to us - as he did not provide us with a detailed outline of what was available for breakfast be it american/continental or indian. It would be useful if a standardised breakfast menu is provided so that clients know what is included in each category and alleviate any discussions/arguments with the waiter.

The hotel is on a very narrow street, easy walking distance from the City Palace. The porter staff were great as they carried all our luggage up the narrow street and the stairs onto the second floor (no lift).

Excellent place and great value for money.

One of the most amazing hotels I have stayed in, which made my Udaipur experience so much more incredible. The service was beyond what I had expected, the rooms were superb- very clean, warm and modern. The rooftop restaurant is breathtaking with a delicious mouthwatering indian cuisine to match. The staff here are super friendly and made us feel like friends rather than just guests. Not only did they make our stay comfortable, they went above and beyond by helping us organise train tickets, transport around the city, restaurant bookings and shopping tips. I have no doubt I will be back here!!

Room Tip: We stayed on the fourth floor, close to the rooftop and with a magical city view.
